Ok i want to fit 285/75/16 or 295s on my 4runner but i ran it by my machanic and he said that i couldent fit any bigger tires on it with out buying wheel spacers, wich i do not want to do. if i get a 1-2in body lift will it be able to fit the tires i want? i currently run 265/75/16 and this bar in the pictures below is what is stopping me, can someone please explain what the best way to do this would be?
I also already have a 2.5in suspenson lift.

its called an upper control arm. Most people rub on it, solutions are wheel spacers or different wheels with less backspacing.

You can get a set of 1.25" front wheel spacers for like 80 bucks.

i have hear that it is dangerous to add those spacers thats why i am trying to avoid them, is that true?

They have mixed reviews. I personally wouldn't run them. A body lift won't do anything to change that spacing. You need to get your tires out away from the upper A-arm, not above it. If you don't want to run spacers, look at wheels with a different backspacing that will push the tire out.

Coming from someone with spacers in the suspension..

Its fine to run wheel spacers, many do. Just keep it at 1.25", no more. New wheels are the better option, but expensive.

I have been running wheel spacers for a while now with zero issues. When they are properly torqued and loc-tite'd they are fine.

I know someone that ran 285 BFG ATs without spacers. The tire was close but didn't rub with normal driving, just some when wheeling.

Most people run a body lift too with 285s or bigger. If not you will rub upon full compression. I don't have a BL and my 265/75-16s rub very lightly in the top of the wheel wells.

Your probably going to need more of a lift up front plus a body lift to fully clear 285s.. I needed to add the body lift in order to switch to 285s and Ive got 2 inches over your lift.. As far as spacers are concerned, A lot of guys are running the 1.25s without any issues, personally I wouldn't do it. With the stock wheels on it all you'll need to clear your uca is a 5/16 spacer- they're like 30 bucks for a pair. I'm running them and only making contact at full flex. Your only other option is to switch wheels... Personally I would just throw on a set of 32s and save yourself the extra cash and gas..

I'm running 285's and bought after market Procomp Wheels to clear the UCA's. It's more costly, but looks better than the stock wheels spacing (my opinion), plus the wider stance helps slightly with side to side stability...

I'm running 32s and have zero plans to go bigger. The guys I crawl with are running 295s, 305s, and 315s. I don't need tires but I'm seriously thinking I'll go Duratracks next.
