Lift question on aggresive stance

no i measured, i started out with an 11 inch spring and that put it up 4 inches and i didnt like the stance so i took it out and cut and inch off untill i liked how it looked. measured it and it was like 2 7/8 but pretty much 3. but they were jeep springs and pretty hard, i have no idea about the toyota springs gonna have to do trial and error untill u like it

I looked at your picture...does not seem to be any coil spring perches under there... maybe I just don't see them.

How well do they stay in place?
 
i got a long piece of 6x9 tubing and tapered it... it was actually my second actual project, the rear was my first. my uncle is a machinest and showed me how to weld and sat there and watched, im 17 and still in highschool and the shop teacher here was really impressed. the only reason i made one was because when i got the truck the bumper had been taken off and 2 tow things had been welded in place. i cut those off and incorperated them on the new bumper ill have pics of me making it up here in a bit
 
topdown4runner... there are no spring purches underthere... i put the ends over the bump stops, you could cut the top one off and weld your own on there and you could take the bottom one off the leafs and make your own mount but thats both a pain and it isnt much better than what you already have

The bumper is all aluminum...bought it off Craigslist for $20.00.
It cost me more than that in gas for the 2.5 hour drive, each way, to go get it :)

There are no markings or numbers anywhere on it. Based on how it is shaped, I think it is a JDM bumper out of Australia. They no longer sell in the U.S.
I sent them an email, but they never responded.
 
i dont know man, ive been lookin around and i think you have yourself someones version of a JDM bumper. not that it still isnt awsome but just sayin, bout how much did it wiegh ya think??? mine was just over 70lbs...
 
The welds, cuts, machining, etc...seem pretty precise. Way too precise to be "home built". May be JDM, maybe not. I still like it though!

As to weight, it is about 30-40 lbs or so. It's all aluminum. I did not weigh it. I can pick it up with one hand and easily carry it around. 2 hands is much easier because of the size and awkward dimensions.
 
I insterted the left over factory coil springs from the spring upgrade on my Wife's '97.
You can see I got almost 3" of lift.
Seems Way too high in the back & bouncy !!!
I am going to see if I still have the factory shackles to lower the rear some and put more weight on the coils.
I did not cut the factory '97 springs down any.

When I get my high idle issue solved, I will take it for a drive and see how it feels.

see! my dad said i was crazy for putting that on here but it freakin works! i have the factory shackles and new shocks on mine so it took away alot of the "bouncyness"

Goor Reading! I did the same thing to my 91 Yota truck. It made a work of diffrence pulling a trailer and anything in the bed. I had no issues while out playin with the hubs in eather.
