Lift/ tire impass

Hey guys. I don’t ever post just do research. I’ve got a 03’ 4runner I’ve had for 15 years. Was currently running 1.5” body lift and 2”/1.5” spacer lift. Running 285/70r17 duratracs on fj wheels with no rubbing except front mud flaps removed. Over the weekend I put on Icon ext travel coilovers and jba UCAs in the front. Icon overland springs in the rear with new upper and lower control arms. Besides having a defective coilover in the front( couldn’t adjust up without top cap unthreadding and leaking nitrogen, talking to customer service currently)

At full turn I’m rubbing on the UCAs. From what I’ve read this is normal. Options are :run wheel spacers or get new wheels. My duratracs are towards the end of their lifespan. I’m leaning toward new wheels when I replace the tires . Most of the wheels I researched are 0mm offset with 4.5-5” backspacing, will that clear the uca? Considering 285’s again but the price is a killer. Thinking about downsizing to 275’s or running skinnies 255/80r17. I know with the new wheels I’ll have to do a body mount chop, which I was planning no matter what. And the castor will need to be set closer to 4*. Anything else to consider?

Need someone to chime in on the wheels and the UCA clearance.
Any help would be appreciated

Weekend

Some pictures of the hardware. Couldn’t adjust rideheight due to the defective coilover so there’s no pics

Good to see another local! Have you had an alignment yet? That may help the UCA rubbing as well. I would get the new Coil and do alignment before doing too much. The FJ wheels should provide a little more clearance than stock anyway.

I rubbed on the JBA arms as well, I went with the Trail Gear spacers and the et lugs from All Pro Off Road on the front. I will be putting in longer lug studs this spring when I do my brakes for safety reasons. You can also use a set of 5th gen wheels, they have a better off set.

Faint beeping noise

I am new to this site and am not sure I am posting in the right place, whenever I hit new thread I get a message that says I am not approved to post a new thread?

I have a problem with my 2010 4Runner Limited. The maintenance required light came on yesterday and while driving I started to hear a very faint but steady ringing type noise. It lasts for like 10 seconds and then goes away. At first I thought it happened from hitting a bump in the road but since yesterday it has happened several times and I cannot figure out what it is or what is causing it. Anyone have this happen to them? It is so faint and never lasts more than a few seconds before it shuts off. Sometimes it happens more frequently than other times but this has come out of nowhere? Please help!

Thanks

I appreciate folks chiming in.
I did go ahead and get my vehicle aligned. I don’t have the specs but I know they didn’t push the limit and try and get clearance on the uca. It took them a while. I had some frozen bolts.

I’ve got some spider trax wheel spacers that I’ll probably run for now and do the body mount chop at that time

I’m currently arguing with icon to send me a new coilover since mine was defective. When I get the new one, I’ll adjust ride height and get the vehicle Re-aligned with wheel spacers on so they can get the clearance I need.
.

I was hoping not to have the added expense of new wheels but in the long run I feel they are safer than the wheel spacers. I’m trying to get my vehicle to 300k before I breakdown and get another 4runner. I’m at 220k. Plus I’d just put the new wheels on the new vehicle so it’s not a total loss.

I’m leaning towards the 255/80r17 but worry about compounded rubbing even after new wheels and BMC. Thoughts?

Need direction on new wheel specs. I’d hate to get new wheels and tires and end up with the same problem.

The FJ wheels have better backspacing compared to stock 4th gen wheels (15mm vs 30mm) and they work perfectly with 255/80r17s. I’m running trail edition wheels with the same specs combined with 255/80r17 Cooper ST MaXXs and really like the set up. Plus there are more 255s on the market like the Nitto ridgegrappler and the toyo AT2.

I didn’t need a BMC, just had to move the front wheel liner forward slightly to stop the rubbing.

Monkey wrench, are you running wheel spacers?
As far as the 255/80’s, they are about $50- $80 cheaper than the 285’s. Was planning on going with the cooper st maxx, people seem to like them

No wheels spacers, the trail edition/FJ wheels sit out about .6” compared to stock

Hey homie, there is a 15 post minimum before you are able to start a new thread. I am also a newbie, so I get what you're feeling, however, you posted in a completely unrelated thread for even the wrong series of 4Runners. If you go into the 5th Gen T4Rs forum (see below), you might at least find a thread where you can get a reply. Good luck!

I went with the 255/80 St Maxx as well, great tire and size for the 4runner.

Rodtheviking, you are running wheel spacers , correct ? Clearance or personal preference for stance?

Clearance on the upper control arm, I should have just got some 5th gen wheels off CL but just had new tires mounted and didnt want to pay again. I will in the future though and drop the spacers.

I’ve got the specs listed in my sig and the only rubbing I have after trimming and moving the fender liner is on the body mount at full steering lock and only if the suspension flexes
I’m extremely happy with the stance of the rig as well as the performance of the st maxx
I live in northern aroostook county in Maine and this year is my first time ever driving in snow and I have had one scare from the tires because I wasn’t paying attention to how fast I was going on a frozen road (25mph) and I slid through a thankfully empty intersection
I have around 2000 miles on these tires and I have nothing but praise for them

Hey man. Looked at your build. Looks damn good. I saw the wheel specs, thank you sir. Curious what your measurements are from center hub to top of fender for front and rear? I’m pretty much sold on the cooper 255/80’s. I’ll probably get new wheels. All in good time. I’ve gotta order some new cv’s from CVJ. Mine are toast. Slinging grease.
