Lift/Tire Question

Hey guys, I know there is a lot of info on here about lifts and tires, but I just had a quick question. I just got my 05 a couple of weeks ago, and it is front leaning like crazy (like all of them do) and I'm a college student on a budget. I want to lift the front and put new tires on it. I want somewhat of a squat on it, so do you think I could just get a 3" spacer on the front and run 285/70/17 or would I have to get a small rear spacer as well? Or should I just shoot for 265/70/17?

This was my response to another thread.

If you're gonna be tearing into the suspension, now would be a good time to get some new shocks as well. 2nd gen tacomas and fj cruisers share the same front setup. If you can find a set of the yellow and blue bilsteins, that would be even better. If you have the budget, you can go with bilstein 5100's all around.

For the front I just did a stock tacoma bilstein strut with moog fj coils and a 1" spacer. In the rear I picked up a set of stock fj coils and tacoma bilstein shocks. It sits SLIGHTLY higher in the front, but once the new moog coils settle, it should level out. But I did get close to 3 inches up front.

The ride is so much better now. After I did the swap, I found that the front driver and rear pax shocks were blown. Which explained the bottoming out just going over minor speed bumps.
