Hey all!
So, this post is a long time coming, but I want to give a big shout out to HungryEddy and CoMarc for helping me install my lift on my '97 Limited!
Eddy was super helpful and I ended up getting Eibach springs and Bilstein 5100s. For the back I went with the OME springs and Bilstein 5125s. Big shout out to the guys at ToyTec for getting the coilovers assembled in less than 30 minutes! Overall, it was a hell of a learning experience, and according to Eddy, apparently no one has posted or recorded using the Eibach's on a 4runner before. The whole process took about 4 hours, mainly because we didn't have a socket wrench bit to install the rear shocks, so it was painstaking hours to just tighten two freakin bolts with an open ended wrench.
All said and done, she's beautiful! We forgot to measure before, but every wheel except the front drivers side measures 23.5" from middle of the rim to the bottom of the fender flare (front driver's side is 23"). The rear might sag a bit once the springs settle and that's more than likely because of the Eibach's in the front. However, it's a 4runner, and I'm used to sag. Any thoughts on how to correct this if/when it does happen, let me know!
Pictures are coming soon, but I have to wash my Thule MOAB basket and the truck before I take them. I have to have her looking her best for the camera, right?
A few questions otherwise. I took it to get an alignment. I have a lifetime alignment with Firestone, and I decided to try the one in Arvada (80th and Wadsworth) at the recommendation of another T4R member. They had a mother of a time getting my tie-rod nuts adjusted because of rust, but actually took the time to let them soak and get the rods adjusted. The manager at the shop told me that the lift will effect the alignment. It does drift to the left but he said there's just going to be drift period. Sure enough, when I drive, the truck drifts on the center lane on the freeway. If the wheel is straight it tracks pretty true, however it still has an inclination to wander left. Is this true or should I try another Firestone and see if they can get it? The steering is lot looser now. Is that normal? Anything I can put on the future truck improvement docket to tighten things up a bit?
Also, my CV boots leak a bit, but really not as bad as I've seen some. I'm going to install the diff drop kit after I soak some of the nuts in PBlaster. Will the CV leakage be noticeably better or should I just ante up now for the Porshe boots and new CV axles?
Thanks in advance! I love this forum and meeting new friends!
