lifting a 2nd gen help?

okay HB yes i have pics of dirt road shots... no pics of being stuck 8 times in the snow and i dont even want to attempt taking a 2wd to the local orv park. also if you can read i have to down grade to something cheaper so i can get extra money to buy furniture. HB have you ever driven an older 4runner or just your 4th gen?

Lots of Opinion going on here, but it is merely that, an opinion. Not all of us will share this same train of thought. I have ridden in/driven every 4runner model out there except for the 5th gen. I really don't see anything special going on in the 3rd gen 4th gen models, sure they ride more like a station wagon (read comfort) and have many gizmos that may make life easier for some people but they are not nearly as rugged and overbuilt as the 1st and second gen runners.

Merely opinion, just my take on it.

hey can you educate me on the suspension of the 2nd gens.... i dont really understand the ball joint spacer lift and as of what i know now there are no front coils?? just shocks... please explain how it works if u dont mind. thanks!

Yes I have, I actually originally wanted a 3rd gen. But I couldn't justify buying a 6-7 year old vehicle at best when I had enough to pay cash for a new 4th gen which we got a killer deal on.

My uncle had a 2nd Gen before his 3rd Gen, and the difference is night and day. I would get a 3rd gen over a 2nd gen any day. It would be a good middle ground between comfort levels for you. They look awesome when they are modded too.

yea they really do but i thought about what you said about the 4th gens almost being luxury and maybe the limiteds or sports but mine is an sr5 with absolutely nothing extra from factory besides the v8. and looking at the pics of the nice 2nd gen thats for sale in the link i posted earlier i really see nothing being of lower quality then what i have besides there is no computer to tell me how bad of gas mileage im getting. i mean the 2nd gens have power windows power locks, all the same stuff. also the dash on the 2nd gen is way easier to use rather then thosd damned buttons to set the temp. in 4th gens where you have to press it a 1000 times to get down or up to what you want. i dont really care for having a new vehicle with the latest technology although i guess its nice to have. and also i found a 2nd gen with 170k miles sr5 limited with leather 4x4. thats even nicer.

awesome.... i really like it but i would really like to find a limited with leather.... also do all 2nd gens 4x4's have locking hubs or just the earlier models? thanks

oh and no one answered my question about if they could explain to me the front suspension set up design of the 2nd gens? thanks again :)

okay back onto the lift for 2nd gens... at first i didnt like the bracket lift idea for them but now i look more and more at thema dn was wndering about the rear control arm drop brackets because if u see 4runners with thes lifts it looks like a rock would destroy them cause they drop down so much.... i am particularly interested in the rouch country lift because it is only 799 compared to all the other companies that are 1k and up. thanks!
