Lifting and XREAS

I have a question. I wasnt considering lifting my 4R but I really want to go ahead and level it. I have a 2010 LE and was wondering what the best route for me to go would be. Should I go with the standard block leveling kit or should I go with the Bilstein 5100's front and back. I am confused because I have just discovered that I probably have the XREAS system (I havent confirmed this yet as I just starting reading and hearing about it tonight). If I do have it what would you suggest that I do as far as leveling my 4R. If I dont have it then I am definitly going with the adjuststable 5100's. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I just got under my 4r and I do have the xreas system. I realized this because I noticed that I had center controlled absorber on both sides. So with this being said what should I do?

I am not sure about the 5th Gens, but I have a 4th gen with the Xreas and installed the Daystar 2.5/1.5 for a small lift and level. It works great with the Xreas.

I agree with momo. If you only want to level out your 4runner go with the Daystar kit.

Same here, Daystar works great with XREAS

See the post regarding 08t4rlimited experience.

If you have it installed make sure the mechanic
1. knows how to install spacers on XREAS
2. is willing to replace the complete system if they mess up the XREAS system at their cost.

The Daystar spacers go on without having to remove the springs but the shocks have to remain connected to the gas lines so there is not a lot of room to work.

Better to ask the hard questions up front then to deal with it after the failure.

I had several shops tell me they were not interested and one shop that clearly had no idea what I was talking about. I am the last person to be telling a mechanic how to do a install

I must agree ^....I can't believe the headaches...sounds like next Tuesday they are replacing the whole system again...hopefully this time they figure it out.

Learn from my mistakes...also when I scheduled the original appointment I told them that it had xreas and they said they were familiar with it...then they asked what make truck I had...I should have cancelled then. In my mind, excited to get the lift, and knowing I told them what suspension I had, I figured I was good....well....I am not...

They installed a brand new system...Toyota charged them 2k for the parts and labor was another 700....this time I didn't pay a penny.

Glad you got it resolved and it did not cost you any more money.
That was a hard lesson for the shop. Probably the last time they touch a XREAS system.

Glad they came through with full coverage. lol......i would put money on them not touching an Xreas equiped truck again. I would love to be a fly on the wall when the next person goes in to see if they would install spacers on an Xreas system.....lol
