Light bar mounting options

With the popularity of these LED light bars recently, I've been thinking of how to mount one successfully on my 99 limited. A buddy of mine says he can fab up a defiant-style prerunner bar for the front, which could cost me a few hundred bucks, and I really don't need or want a roof basket granted that would be easy to mount to . . .

So here's my idea- Using existing brackets and hardware from a sunroof wind deflector, toss the deflector, leave the mounting tabs, beef them up a little, and mount a 30" bar to the front of the sunroof. Has anyone done this or something similar?

Also, if I do go through with this prerunner bar, would anyone else be interested? My buddy at the metal fab shop says he can make a jig and fab up a bunch if there's a market for them.

I make roof mounts for lightbars in a 40" flavor. A 30" on the roof without a roof rack might be a little funny looking'. I'd mount it on the bumper.

Turbo8 that actually looks pretty nice, does a smaller bar like that help a lot? What brand/model light is that? and does it affect cooling at all blocking the valance like that?

Downpour I think you're right, the more I imagine a 30" the less I like it. Are there any light bars like a Defiant out there for a 3rd gen right now that I could just order? I've had no luck finding one. I almost want to buy a bull bar and weld on a prerunner style bar around the bumper then powdercoat it all black but I feel like the chances of that looking awful are very high.

Hit downpour up for the 40" brackets. A 40" bar from XYZ brand isn't that much more than a 30", you'll get gobs of light and it'll be up high where it does the most good, AND the chicks dig it.
