Hey there, first post from a fairly new 4runner owner....what a surprise, it's a question pertaining to a problem I'm having! ;-)
Well, my 4runner (92 5sp 3.0) has a HID conversion for the low beams. Just the other day I noticed that the driver side light was out. I removed the bulb to inspect, and figured it was burned at first due to the extremely dark appearance of the tube (btw, german-made HID conversion lights are crazy...I'm never finding a replacement!!). After asking around, I found out that, indeed the light was probably fine and it was a problem elsewhere.....elsewhere being the easy to fix driverside lowbeam fuse. haha, well, all was good until the next day after wheeling a bit, and day turning to night, I go to flip on my headlights. nothing happens...not even the usual 'buzz/flicker' from the HIDs warming up. the light control knob turns over, hear the click, but no lights, highs or lows....not even dash lights. made for a somewhat sketchy drive back home, luckily no oncoming rigs on the FSR.
I've now found that if I REALLY force the knob to turn hard all the way over (like TOO hard almost), I can kinda get my headlights to turn on, sometimes with the dash lights...but they wont stay, unless I keep hard against it?? this goes for all lights....side markers, lowbeams and highbeams....but I can get the highs to stay on if I hold BACK on the lever, in the 'temporary high' position.
My guess is that somehow the connection in the light control lever got burned out...?? Who knows? Not I.
Any help would be muchly appreciated.
