Light Racing UCA ball joints

Thought I'd throw in my two cents after installing SPC light racing UCAs this weekend.

For those of you who have done the install yourself you probably noticed that the factory UCA stays upright (sticks straight out) even after unbolting the spindle. What this tells me is that they don't tighten the frame bolt until there is weight on the assembly so that the arm rests unbound. This means that 99% of the time when parked or driving on a smooth road that the UCA and more importantly the bushings are in a neutral state.

If I were a shop just getting the work done as quickly as possible I would have let the UCA hang down as I tightened the frame bolt but this means I would have had to lift the UCA about 30* to connect it to the spindle.

I didn't tighten my frame bolt until I had reattached the spindle ball joint and loaded the spring using a jack to simulate vehicle weight. I'm hoping this means my SPC UCA is now sitting in a nice happy neutral state when parked on all 4 wheels and that ultimately this leads to less binding and heat.

Glad I read this before ordering light racing. I'm leaning towards the Icon tubular at this point, however I'd like opinions on other brands people are running.

Also, is there one that brand that requires more "maintenance" that another brand or all they all about the same?

Nevermind, found a thread on it....
