Problem with Light Racing UCA's

I posted This Thread in the suspension section but not sure I'm getting the right audience.

Seems my upper arms are different from the ones I'm seeing in others build threads. Even limamike's are different and we both bought them from MetalTech at the same time.

Anyhow the thread is self explanatory, any input is appreciated!

I've always heard of UCA's squeaking - it's like luck of the draw, some do and some don't. I guess the LR don't have zerks which is why you would have to take them off to re-grease?
 
Intruder,

does that boeshield stuff you mentioned spraying on your UCA leave a color or residue?

I sprayed pretty much the entire undercarriage with Amsoil HD metal protector, but it is a rust color and leaves drips and I don't want to spray my expensive and shiny Icon coil overs with it....
 
I've had my LR UCA's on for almost 2 years and 30k miles and they are still quiet as a mouse. Before that I had used TC UCA's that would squeak if I didn't lube them once a week but they needed rebuilt with new uniballs.
I read somewhere that LR recently changed to polyurethane bushings instead of rubber so maybe that has something to do with it.Here is their website with tele number so give them a call...... Specialty Products Company - SPC Alignment
 
I heard a small sound from the suspension only twice since install. I was pretty meticulous during the install to grease and use anti seize. My buddies kept reminding me that I work slow. BUT I only have to get into the project once when its done right the first time.

Intruder. I looked up that page before asking you about it, but it didn't really answer my questions. The amsoil marketing page says just about the same things, but it goes on as a colored waxy film. Its fine for bike chains or stuff that is dirty anyway, but would be no good as a knife of gun lubricant or protector. The amsoil page does say that however.

I am hoping for some kind of product that is as easy to apply as that Honda spray on wax for motorcycle fairings.

I've used Boeshield T9 on a bunch of stuff (including my coilovers and UCAs) and it's never left a colored residue.

I've got a shout out to Mark from MetalTech for his opinion also so I'll see what he thinks. In the mean time I'll try either the Boeshield or Russack Dri-slide

Does anyone have the same type bushing in theirs as I do?? Anyone at all??

Yup yours are the same, are you having any squeaks/creaks? I see some grease around your washers so looks like its lubed up well.

Man I really don't feel like taking them out to re-grease but I guess it's the only option for long term quiet. *sigh

It's gonna have to wait til after Rausch Creek.

I stand corrected as I just found some pics! What takes up the space on each side of the rod end as they don't look that wide?

Mine and the vast majority of LR's have not squeaked ,serve the same purpose and cost about 1/3 of the price.

Yes...but these are so much shiny er...lol. For that price they better not make a peep!

Hey Qjake - any updates on the noisy UCA's? I'm about to order through MetalTech and I'm wondering if the noise is a function of the newer bushings (poly vs. rubber).

Multiple applications of various spray lube's has quieted them down. Eventually i'll have pull them and re-grease but for now they are good.
