Lights out in tempature console

The lights are out in the console where the temperature and time are displayed.

I checked the fuses and they seem to be ok.

Has anyone else ever had this problem? I guess I will have to take it in to the stealership in Raleigh.

I have a 2006 Toyota 4 Runner.

Thanks.

Don't take it to the dealership. Easy fix on your own.

The fold down change holder comes out rather easily. Just release it and pull on it slightly as you let it down from the "closed" position. Once you hit the right angle, there is a gap in the track that it's on that will allow it to slide out.

Once it's out, there is a single screw behind it that you need to remove.

Once that is removed, you can gingerly pull the AC control assembly out.

On the back, there are several small plastic pieces that look like flathead screws. They're not, they're your light bulbs. Use a flathead screw driver to rotate them a quarter turn and they should pop right out.

You can replace them all with LEDs from v-LEDs.com. You can keep the orange color, or switch to another color. That will fix the problem without paying the dealership obscene amounts to fix a very simple problem.

Thanks for the reply. I see the screw and have been able to get the change holder out.

I am having problems getting the AC control assembly out.

How do you get it out without breaking anything?

Thanks.

I start at the bottom corners and gently pull on them. The tabs should pop out. Once the bottom is out, do the same for the top, gently pulling at the corners.

I just changed mine...super easy..just a tiny slotted screw driver and half a turn and the bulbs pop right out...I had to pull pretty hard until the whole unit popped out. But good luck.

yep, same thing started on my 07 a couple of weeks ago. new bulbs from v-leds should do the trick, and the controls are super easy to remove. Good luck :)

Zakadee - I checked the V-leds web site and didn't see the temperature gauge bulbs listed.

Did you order them online or through a toyota dealership?

Do you happen to know the bulb type? I have one out in my clock/temp area and it's annoying. I was thinking something would need to be soldered. This is good to hear.

TIA

You want the NeoWedge LEDs I believe the 4mm are for the display.(click link below) You can find lots of info on this if you do a search on T4R. The high power ones may not work in the display only, but work everywhere else. The Neos are also polarized so if they don't work when installed you just turn them 180 and reinstall.
You don't need to disassemble as in pic below but you can see 2 the lights in center of the board.
