Well, I hoped this day would not come but after 15000 miles, I've decided I can't live with this vehicle any longer. I am a very practical person and financially disciplined so the idea of getting rid of a new vehicle after 15 or so months is really hard for me but I have decided I am not going to force myself to drive something I dislike as much as I do this vehicle. I am going to look at a used Lexus LX570 and a GMC Yukon Denali this weekend, hope to make a deal but we,ll see.
I know some will flame me for posting this but so be it. I spent a good amt of time on this site getting help before I bought, which I appreciated and decided to provide some of my own feedback now that I've been an owner
Vehicle is a 2015 pearl white limited 4x4
First, the good. The things I really like, in no particular order include the look of the truck. I think it is a beautiful vehicle, love the look. Second, reliability records are fabulous. Third, the electronic pkg is nice, though I realize not state of the art. The keyless entry, keyless start, backup camera, sensors, ac seats and a fabulous stereo system are great.
Now, for the things I dislike so much that I must eat the loss and move on.
The ride is horrible on anything other than smooth streets. This is my least favorite thing. The suspension is brutal. Second, the panic brakes are miserable. About once a month, I do something that triggers them and it is unnerving at best. Hate the feature. The engine is marginally adequate. I think a 6 speed tranny would really help it, just doesn't feel very responsive tho if you stomp on it, acceleration is decent. Tranny doesn't feel smooth to me, not bad but certainly not smooth. Last, the seats are hard and not very comfortable in my view.
The good news is, if I didn't buy the 4Runner I would have bought the new Tahoe. It was really too expensive which is the biggest reason I started looking at the 4Runner. Much better value. The Tahoe seems to have been a disappointing new release and the resale value would have been significantly worse for me than the Toyota so not all bad news.
