LineX or Rhino Line rock sliders

I'm ordering a set of new RSG tubular sliders and I'm considering ordering them powder coated and the spray on bed lined. I'm not talking a new 4runner rock crawling these will be more of off road insurance. Has anyone else had sliders professionally sprayed with a bed liner ?

From what I've heard and read Line-X, Rhino Liner and other spray on bed liner products don't clean off very well. Dirt, dust, grime, what have you tends to stick on it and gives it a dirty or dull appearance over time no matter how much you try and clean it. I don't think that's the case with proper powder coating. I think you're better off going with a rough textured powder coat than spray on bed liner. Plus if you're not rock crawling then you don't need the extra protection of Line-X nor the weight penalty that comes with it. Truck liner is a very heavy product compared to PC or simple spray paint.

1: Line-X on our FJ Cruiser
2: Smooth Powder Coat on our 2018 T4R
3: Textured Powder Coat on our 2021 T4R

I would go back to the bedliner in a heart beat, and actually plan on redoing the 2021. The bedliner is more expensive by far, especially with labor but it's much more durable and is a better grip if you are using them as steps.

No issues keeping them clean and no fading. Our FJ lives outside full time. I'd make sure you go with a quality product though that's UV resistant

My two cents - go with powder coating. Bedliner is grippy, which is good for steps, but may be unnecessarily grippy when trying to slide over obstacles, especially when it's wet, traction is already limited and you're trying to get over a log, for example.

Came to post exactly this. Maybe 10 years ago now my dad put bedliner on his CJ7's fenders and rocker panels, and it's really a pain in the ass as it has to be pressure washed to get the dirt off to any degree. But it does the job well and when it's clean it looks super slick, I'll give it that :surfer:

I had my rock sliders sand blasted and Line-X’ed due to PC flaking off and other spots getting rust in two months time. The Line-X has held up great and removing the dirt and mud has been no problem. I did have them apply the anti color fading to which is a step up from the normal bed liner. Maybe this helps with removing the dirt? It does give a slight amount of gloss to it.

Lifestyle Overland has a video from about a year ago where they talked about the pre treatment process they did that prevents rust after the Line-X has been scraped off. It’s video from when they were installing the rock sliders on the Lexus GX.

You've got to get them at least primed before any bedliner application for adhesion purposes.

I had mine "raptor lined", I think it is similar to line x rino etc. The sliders have been over quite a bit at this time and are holding up fairly well. The few spots that have broken through underneath are easily remedied with flat black rustoleum.

You will have a hard time keeping them clean due to the rough surface, if that matters to you.

Well everyone does have their own "formula" I suppose so I wouldn't be surprised if some are easier to clean than others or perhaps if someone even solved this issue altogether, might be worth looking into for those contemplating it :keyboard:

5 years of Line-Xd Pelfrybilt sliders... the Line-X has out lived the company.

They still look brand new... they do hold a minimal about of dirt that is nothing the car wash pressure washer won't get out. Literally not a problem at all.

I would do this again in a heart beat.
