I have had a broken rear diff locker for a while now and I need to get it fixed. I have investigated the stator magnets and epoxied them into place. I am now ready to install the actuator into the diff. I really want to put it together and try to get this done once. But, how do I make sure that the position of the diff locker gear is in the corresponding position for the inner actuator gear-contacts?
Here's my guess, and correct me if you can add any advice or pointers... I plug the actuator in to the harness. Manually move the locker into the locked position. Turn ignition on and set the locker to put the actuator into the locked position. Then, I am ready to install the actuator into the diff. Do I need to worry about getting the teeth of the actuator lined up perfectly with the teeth of the locking gear? ...I'm worried about getting the aforementioned gears lined up
Should the locking gear be pushed firmly into position (manually locked), or should there be some "slack" in its engagement?
*Edit: I'm jumping the gun a little. I haven't yet plugged the actuator into the harness to verify that I have a working motor. I'll get on that.
**Edit2: Nevermind this thread. The actuator still does not work. I'm back at the beginning.
