Link between Blend Door and Dash Replacement

Howdy all. I have noticed a lot of posts about blend door actuators going out and was wondering if this happened after you dash replacement. For me I noticed it the day after picking up my 4runner from the dash replacement. I was wondering if it is something they did or if they failed to follow proper procedures. Just looking to see if anyone else has this problem or if it is just a coincidence for me.

My blend door crapped out and my dash was never replaced. The actuators wear internally so it's unlikely that any work under the dash would cause them to fail prematurely.

Your post is the first I've seen as to the possible failure of the blend door being due to the dash replacement, so I would think it just a bad timing event.

As mentioned the failure of the blend door is due to the electrical contact surface inside of the servo degrading to a point no electrical current can flow and activate the door, I can't see any way the dash replacement can cause such an issue since the contact area is inside of the servo and can't be damaged from the outside.

Edit: I will be remiss if I didn't include a possiblity, if you discover damge to the servo arm itself, as it being broken, etc. and no damage to the electrical contact area inside the servo, then yes the arm could of been damaged during the dash replacement, but I would doubt this is the cause of your failure.

Well looks like it was just coincidence. Now I can spend more time looking over the JFK files and posting how jet fuel cannot melt steel.
