Link to parts required to replace window regulator in tail gate of 2005 4Runner

The window in my tail gate is stuck and its clear (at least to my inexperienced eyes) that the power mechanism (?) is broken.

Can someone tell me what the part or parts are so that I can look for them online and purchase them?

Its a 2005 4Runner V6 Sport Edition without the integrated spoiler at the top of the tail gate

Here’s my thread showing where the regulator mounts rusted away and the glass fell into the tailgate

The glass was initially stuck in the glass run, window switch didn’t work, then it fell inside the tailgate after a bit of driving. I’d tape around the inside of the glass first before investigating further. I was lucky the glass didn’t break when it fell.

I looked at the parts list you linked above and I think this is what I need (can you please confirm?)

I was able to re-use the bracket so I only purchased the regulator assembly.

Have you had an opportunity to take the panel off and check first?
You also need to inspect those 4 small tabs attached to the window glass (shown in the pics in my thread) . If those tabs aren't salvageable you may need a whole new glass as they are assembled as 1 part number.

Your problem could actually be the motor as well so really need to investigate before buying. That regulator was about $180 CAD tax-in with a shop discount I get through a buddy.

I have not had a chance to take the panel off yet. Will do that today. I hope the tabs are salvageable.

The motor still works, its just the glass that fell in.

How did you score that deal? I put the regulator in the cart and the shipping to Ontario is a whopping USD $100.

Oh so your glass already came off the mounts and fell? Didn't read that earlier.

You can pull the panel off (directions on youtube and on here if you search) , then carefully slide the glass back into the glass run and tape around the inside to hold it. I used Gorilla duct tape. This way you can drive around until you can get it fixed.


Oh yea while you're in there use one of those magnetic probe thingy to grab all the loose metal fragments on the bottom of the tailgate.

I didn't buy from that website, didn't really want to wait for the shipping time
Buddy has a shop here in Toronto and their Toyota dealer had it in-stock

Thanks! I talked to a mechanic friend of mine that works for Erin Park Toyota and the OEM price on the regulator is exactly the same as what you got - CAD$180. Needless to say, I'll buy it through him and get it installed very soon.
