So far I haven't had an opportunity to really do anything with them. I've driven pavement, and aggressively charged some speed bumps and potholes which it has handled amazingly. But I haven't yet gotten to try them on so much as a gravel road let alone trail. Looks like Ma Nature put a pin in our brief taste of spring so I won't be on the bike as much for now and will hopefully do some real testing this weekend.

Awesome! Post up when you start. I'll have had mine for one year tomorrow and I still smile everytime I drive her and still look for excuses to walk outside and look at her when I'm not.

Today is our one year anniversary! Sure, she's gotten bigger and put on some pounds but she still makes me smile everytime we're together. To celebrate the occasion I recreated our first time together. This weekend, when I have more time, I'm planning some adventure time, a gentle bath, and then a nice hand waxing.

Thanks! I went with the ARB 2500. I wasn't sure about the overhand but new I'd want the full sized awning for coverage. No spacers, at least yet...

Really like going through your build thread man! We sold our 2013 SR5 and have a 2017 MGM Trail Premium arriving in a couple weeks. Your 4R is almost exactly what I'm looking at for ours (minus the PRO grill, haven't found a way to justify that one to the wife....yet). One question, I'm wanting to get the silver bumpers painted asap and was wondering how well the plastidip has held up? Thanks!

The Plastidip is still going strong. I had some rub marks on the front piece that I noticed while changing the bumper but it was still intact. On the rear I've scraped it a few times and have some gashes in the 'Dip but it's still holding on and doesn't yet warrant a peel and recoat. For the ease of application this stuff can't be beat.

Snorkel day! Fairly terrifying to start. That initial use of the auto center punch felt so wrong. Which was topped once i started drilling. After that the big hole was a piece of cake.

Once again, I'm behind on dumping my camera card and processing photos, but a couple of weeks ago I met up with my brother and parents outside of Cortez, CO. We had planned on meeting there, spending a couple of days checking out the various archeological sites in that area, then moving over into Utah somewhere.
Unfortunately, we got caught in some weather and our plans were drastically changed. Over a 48 hour period we had over 3" of hail and rain which turned our area into a total quagmire. We had to leave my dad's 2WD Tundra on the main forest access road for a couple of days because it couldn't get back to the site after the rain. Eventually, we left out a bit early in order to deal with extracting my parents' gear and rented off-road trailer, as well as my brother's trailer, when we were "down" one vehicle.
The trip ended up being reduced to one mountain bike outing for me, one trail run through the OHV area we were camped near, and a day at Mesa Verde, along with two days huddled up over a propane campfire in freezing rain conditions. Still, it sure beat working...
Here's a photo my mom took. This crossing lead to me needing to pull out my interior a second time to clean the carpet. Good times...
My brother is better about processing and slapped together this video.
I have to say that the front camera I hooked up to my new head unit worked amazingly well. On breakovers and climbs where all I could see was hood and sky I had a perfect view of the trail through the front camera.

cool thread! I am starting to look at 5th gens due to the recent hail storm most likely taking out my 05 v8 4runner.
Saw you are in lakewood (as am I) and figured you could give me some info on the power of the v6 out here with the 275 tires. how is the power up the pass? i'm having a really hard time debating between another 4th gen v8 and the newer 5th gens v6. With a car full of people and gear, are you still able to maintain 65 up the pass? Thanks for any help.

Yeah, power is adequate, but you have to dig for it sometimes. While moderately loaded I've easily passed on the climbs but you also get used to the feel of the firewall under your foot... There's only been one time that I've actually felt power starved though, and that was with a full load on a high grade and even then it was accelerating, just slowly. Our other vehicle, and what I was driving before the 4Runner, is a v6 RAV4 and it's a sleeper so I came into the 4Runner a bit skewed. I've adjusted though and don't have any complaints... but I might start saving once supercharger details are available.
