I wish i could live the dream but toyota would have to man up and bring either a '14 70 series double cab or wagon GXL to North america.

We have these from the Canadian mining industry. But how I understand it, the importer is prohibited from selling them new to the public.

Not sure what US laws are. But normally I think before we could import and register one of these it has to be 25years old and registered as antique... There are some work arounds like registering as a custom build. Quebec has a class of registrations it calls artisan builds. If it passes inspection, they create a VIN number for you and off you go.

california is a pain but you can buy older ones here that have been imported if you can find one they pop up every blue moon.

California has something called the direct import vehicle guidelines for vehicles not designated for sale here but there are allot of hoops to jump thorough to import a vehicle and ones that are less than 2yrs old you can forget about if they don't meet both US safety and california emissions standards from the factory.
We also have Kit car registration guidelines. I guess you get one in pieces and assemble here. That is kind of the way several companies brought in R32,33 and 34 skylines,silvias and other JDM cars most of those companies are no longer around due to problems with the government.

BTW Nice WRX i drove and miss 2 an '04 STI and an '07 wrx for almost 9 years still miss the the sound of a loud boxer. I get my fix every so often Autoxing my buddies prepped 2.5 swapped '02 though.

Thanks.. it's a cool little car and a blast in the snow.. Don't drive it very much since it's the wifes daily.. Actually traded a 2011 GT 5.0 MT for it.. Now that was a hell of a ride... It was actually my 4th Mustang and my wife was really wanting a WRX, so I figured wth! I had always wanted a Landcruiser so it was only fair I guess lol

I'd have to agree with this post. The niche wheels FJ is NOT the FJ Landcruiser of old. It's a newer tsw wheels product. Being the buffed little (meaning younger) brother isn't a bad thing anyway.

Not really knowing anything about the history, I wouldn't call the FJ Cruiser little. Having sat in one, my mind was kind of blown. It was almost as roomy as our Suburban was, and trust the, the Suburban might as well be our own blue school bus.

I really think little here means younger, and not little as in small in size.

Hey guys, when I created this subforum and added that "buff little brother" tag line it was just a little joke - nothing to be taken too seriously "Little" because it was a newer younger model - kind of like when George Bush was referring to Jeb recently as his little brother even though Jeb towers over George "Buff" because, well, the FJ looks like it has been working out compared to the T4R - especially compared to the latter year 4th gens when the FJ first came out. "Brother" because it was based on a modified T4R platform if I recall correctly.

Similar thought process when I labeled the GX subforum the T4R's "rich little brother"
