Is it possible to add a locking rear diff (probably the ARB) to a 5th Gen LE and retain the regular AWD capabilities of the LE while the lock is not engaged?

Thanks. I understand many of you live and breathe 4runners and offroading and stuff like that, so be gentle to a newbee. But the difference b/t full time 4WD and AWD is still confusing, and I doubt I'm alone. I understand you can lock the center diff on the LE, but when it is not locked (i.e. 90% of the time for most people), it seems like it should behave the same as AWD. If any wheel is slipping, the power will be sent to that wheel. That's why the ability to lock the center diff is important. Right? In other words, in a LE with the center diff lock not engaged, if the front right tire is on rollers on an incline, will the car be able to get moving?

Yes. You can add rear arb lockers and/or front lockers to an LE.
