Longest Lasting Mud Tires

Alrighty. Im currently working and making good money and despritely need some tires.. However I will be going to college soon which means I will be poor . So Id like to get some mud tires that last me as long as possible.

I hear from other forums that BFG KM2 should last about 50k on a full size truck and on a midsize truck a good bit longer.. May sound like alot for a tire, but who knows..

The BFG are my favorite looking tire, and can get a set for 850$.. I wouldn't mind looking at a tire that might possibly last longer.

I have the BFG A/T's and they have lasted me about 65,000 miles and still have about 25% tread left. I just get them rotated every 5000 miles. The BFG M/T are good tires, I have had them before, but if you spend more than 75% of your time on the road rather than on the trails, the A/T's are probably best for your money. JMHO

Although, I do like the look of the M/T's better!

Probably not what you want to hear, but I would steer away from Mud Tires until you know (or have a good idea at least) that you will be able to afford to replace them. There is nothing that pisses me off more than seeing a truck with super swamper tsl's on it that have less tread than drag radials. I really think I nice agressive A/T would be your best bet. I have had my BFG KM2's for almost a year now, probably 10-12k miles. If they do last another 30-40k miles, I think they will be useless as a Mud Tire at that point. I got off to a bad start with mine by running them on a poor aligment for about 2k miles but ever since then I have kept them rotated every 2-3k miles. I don't see anyone getting 50k or even 40k miles out of these tires while having them still be effective off road. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

I had a set of the BFG MTs on my jeep for more than 65K miles...they were wheeled hard, religiously rotated and balanced and I was a fanatic about tire pressure.

my first BFG MudTerrain KMs lasted around 50k, but like everyone else said, if you see pavement alot more than mud, go with an agressive all terrain tire

x2 sure mud tires look cool but a/t's are fine with me

might check out duratracs, they are a nice cross between mt and at and man do they rock in the snow and do very well in the mud. did i mention they look cool too. Im a broke college student and ive put 5k on mine, they still look brand new. hopefully they last a long while.

some a/t will last mote than 50k?

I will admis I rarely leave the pavement and when I do it's something a/t will handle.

I like the look of m/t and I may use them, down here all we have is mud. I just try to avoid it.

But if an at will last 50k and a mt will last 50k why not go with mud?

I would say 30-40k out of the BFG KM2s.

I'm pretty sure you would get more than 50k out of the BFG KOs.

The Duratracs are nice too. They are so new that nobody really know how long they will last.

You probably could get more than 50k out of a mud terrain, I have, and like someone said above, at that point they are worthless in the mud/rocks and even more unsafe on the street IMO. I say get what you want! They will both last as long as you will probably need/want them to. After 50k you will have probably changed your mind about either option anyways! haha, I seem to switch back and forth between M/Ts and A/Ts every time I need tires!
