j/k I didn't find this forum until after I bought my t4r. Just throwing out a non biased opinion.

I guess the $1,200 leaking exhaust manifolds counteract this positive, however.![]()
Is there a thread to read more up on this issue? We've got that leak and I'd like to get more details on it. Thanks!

While there are certainly a LOT of 4x4s on the road today that'll go 500,000 miles, the thing that impresses me about my 4Runner is that we're basically talking 15 year old technology, yet there are no oil leaks or fluid leaks anywhere on the vehicle. The engine and transmission both are bone dry and all the seals seem to be holding up great. That makes me happy.

Maybe, but only if you equate a sound annoyance with a mechanical problem.
I've never seen a report of a thrown code, failed vehicle inspection, or bad CO test.
I haven't either...but I've had two different mechanics tell me that if the cracks are allowed to get big enough, it could start to affect the valves in that portion of the head. And that would be considered a mechanical problem. A bad one.
2003 Toyota 4Runner Up there in miles, few dings and spots on the rear bumper, still an ok contender if you like those rims.
.
One problem with the 4.7L is that the transfer case may develop an oil leak at the actuator due to a lousy design of one of the actuator seals. It is a known problem on the 4R and GX470 (search here and clublexus.com) and the GX470 has a TSB for it. Cost to repair it ranges from $1200-$2000 if warranty has run out.
If that one was a few grand lessit would be good.
Guess you don't know how good these trucks hold their value. I'd offer him $6,700 or so.

since you put it like that, i do know. i
here is a current snapshot of what auction prices are and SOLD history
i bought mine for $5800 03 164k v8 sr5 with aftermarket leather and roof, recent 145k dealer installed transmission and dealer service records.
So yes i know what they going for. i would not offer anything until you get there and see it. its tacky to offer something on a vehicle sight unseen, you maybe short changing yourself.
Pricing differs from location. In GA that price is average.
Oh, and I'm not buying it. I bought mine in October 2011. In posted that for the OP.
