Looking at buying this 2006 gx470

Hello, I'm looking at buying this for my wife and wanted to make sure it was a good deal.

2006 GX470
Fully Loaded as far as I can tell
Mark Levinson Sound
Nav
Bluetooth
Voice Command ( Technology Package )
3rd row with air
Air suspension
DVD system with TVs in the head rests for the 2nd row
The whole 9 yards

There are a couple spots that have above normal wear.But aside from that it looks pretty good. Def not prestine, but it's a used 9 year old suv....

Price $13,300


Def needs a good Cleaning and Buffing with the paint but I think it would clean up great.
I really like the blue metallic paint.

One of the spots where it had way above normal wear is the passenger side dash.

I can only assume this is from a females set of feet on road trips... The rest of the dash isnt like this...

Is the price fair? Were worried that we might be able to get something
else or nicer.

The dash needs replaced due to the wear and one single window switch needs replaced.
The passenger side front window works, just not from the driver switch.

Aside from that it ran great. I drove it for almost 45 minutes.
Gave it some hell
Braked like crazy, Cruised A Lot.
So it felt great.
Everything worked
Blew Ice cold
Blew hot
Shifted Great. No Delay. No clunks, Butter smooth but fast and firm, like it should....

I just want to make sure It's worth what kbb and nada claim, (16-19k) so getting it for 13,300 should be a good deal

We don't want to spend more than 15k on a used suv. We were looking at Pathfinders, But for 11k you get a pathfinder with 200k miles... eh.

While parts are probably a lot cheaper than the gx... I wish It didn't have the nav so I could put new head unit in but oh well.
I also with it was black intr, but again oh well.

Should we hold out for another or pick this one up. Part of me feels like I should wait for exactly what we want but this deal is pretty good.

Hes sending it to auction if we dont buy it. It's been on his lot for 30days. I assume because of the Dash.... Its the worst part of the car.

Welcome to the forum. I have the same build and year GX - it's an awesome truck and you will not regret it. Price seems to be right too.

As far as cracked dashboard foes... This has been a problem of these trucks for a VERY long time. Finally Lexus agreed to cover it as a part of enhanced warranty regardless of mileage. Other impressions:

3rd row seating is useless except for children
Rear air is a very nice option
Air suspension is great, but will require service eventually

Tires on the truck look like Michellin Cross Terrains, although I may be wrong. In any case, front tires may need to be replaced soon. And since its an all wheel drive you may want to replace all 4 (or 5).

Another very important point - the timing belt on the V8 in this truck is recommended to be replaced at 90K service. It will cost at least $1000 to have it done. Check the service records, if available, to determine. Otherwise use it as a bargaining chip.

Dark leather interior, with regular cd player.

We wanted dark leather. It's in nicer condition too.
And with rtegular cd player we can install an aftermarket nav unit.
and have all the features of a new car. Up to date Nav, Bluetooth, dvd, blah blah blah.

I know I love the Digital Maintence features but that can be kept with an app to do everything I need to. (Oil, wipers etc....)

Isnt the black with no nav worth more and what everyone wants???

Not sure that everyone wants a dark interior... Personally I prefer beige, especially in the summer after the truck seats in the sun light for any length of time... :clock:

Both trucks have comparable mileage, and are in similar condition.

So, if I were you, I would get the 2006 and save the $3000 compared to 2005. Use that money to install the NAV/DVD that you want, and have some money left for gas. And you will have a truck that is 1 year YOUNGER...

Use the unknown timing belt replacement history as a bargaining chip.

At the end of the day, you should get the one that YOU like the most.

BTW, I am not a big fan of navy color... ound:

The t-case in the picture above looks like someone has been into it.
You can see the FIPG material squeezed out when re-assembled.

The problem is, the 06 has nav already. And can't be replaced because
the climate control is built into it. I've read it can't be replaced. This is true right.

I have a buddy that works at the dealer finding out how much they have in the 2005 one so I can use that to negotiate a better price on the 05.
So if it's just 2 grand more that's more manageable.

Yeah, WE do want the darker interior and non nav so we can put our own in.

But knowing lexus will replace the dash is great on the 06.
Yeah I thought that about the tranny too but wasn't sure I could find anything.
