Looking at this 2005 T4R tomorrow. Thoughts?

Luckily, the 05 v6's aren't known for blowing their gaskets, its the 03/04's.

I see hardly any head gasket issues with the 03. I do see them mostly on the 04 and 05 V6 and a few 06,07 and 08. You can check out the thread to see what years the members are reporting the HG issue.

What's the 11th digit of the VIN #, is it 0, 8 or 9?
(11th digit of VIN This denotes the plant of manufacture 0=Tahara, 8 or 9 = Hino)

Outside (from the pictures) looks clean, sounds like the owner has decent care of it. V6, so you don't need to worry about replacing a timing belt.
Biggest service item to look at would be the head gasket (already mentioned) and possibly ask about a transmission fluid flush. Long as it shifts smoothly likely not a big deal, Toyota doesn't recommend a lot of maintenance for the tranny (I personally would feel better with a flush between 100k and 150k)
I'd glance underneath and look for any excessive rust. Never hurts to have a trusted mechanic look at it and also pull carfax

The norm; check out the 4wd modes, rust (check under body, sun roof frame, rear window frame), cv boots, how does it feel driving and stopping...difficult to tell much from pictures but it's a 4runner!

Bump on stopping, the calipers are known to seize. I just sold my 04 SR5 at auction for 7500 with 125,XXX on the clock. Mine was rusty after spending too many poorly maintained New York State winters (not while I owned it) so 8300 seems fair as long as everything is functional.
Sign up at ToyotaOwners.com. Create a profile, and add this car to your profile by entering in the VIN. You will see its service record at Toyota dealerships, and maybe any that the owner self-reported. While it might not be 100% complete, it should give you plenty to go on.
You can do this for other Toyotas as well.

So this 4Runner was manufactured at the Tahara plant in Japan, I see a lot of those 4Runners having the HG issue based on the V6 Head Gasket Information Thread. I'm not saying all of the Tahara 4Runners have the HG issue but its something to consider. It would be best to take it to trusted mechanic just to have them check it out.
