Looking for CB Radio and Antenna Mount Ideas/Pictures

I'm not a fan of clutter and have made changes to get where i am now and very happy with the setup. I have a Cobra 75 WX ST CB that mounts under the center console so all that's visible is the handset, a Yaesu FT-1900R HAM mounted inside the console. The Yaesu uses a magnetic antenna since I rarely use it. I keep it inside the back of the truck and it works surprisingly well there but move it to the roof for serious use. The CB uses a whip style antenna mounted to my rear bumper. In other words all that's visible in the cab is the handsets which Are easily disconnected and tossed in the glove box.

No pictures but I'm running the Lil Wilson mag mount because I couldn't get the rs720 to ground properly. Currently waiting on that group buy for the new 4th gen hatch mount to see if it works better than the rs720

It never happened. I've since ditched the CB and have a hard wired HAM w/ mag mount that will eventually be a drilled roof mount.

I used an FJC mount notched into my rear bumper. Works great.

Hi, what is this thing that you have on the right side of the climate control where looks like you plug in radio cable? Really like it and would want to do something like that. Thanks

Finally finished my CB install.
Two years in the making....not bad!!! :

I have been a CB radio fan since high school, when the gang I hung out with all had one. Unfortunately, as an adult, I haven't had a car worthy of installing one.
I got my 4R in 2015 and knew I had put a CB in it.
So I bought a low end model, and planned to install it where the small compartment is, beneath the heater controls. But I found that space to have a LOT of interference from the head unit of my radio. It has a USB port, and the hard drive spinning made the CB unusable. (good thing I didn't install it BEFORE I found out)
So, I finally had time this weekend, and jumped on the project.
I removed the map light module on the ceiling, and disconnected the sunglass holder. I attached a pair of "L" brackets with some heavy duty sheet metal screws, and replaced the rest of the map light module. I ran the power wires to the battery, and fished the coax cable from the back. I already had the antenna installed. Yes, the antenna is at an angle, but that it is so it fits under the roof of the parking garage at work. (it has a 7ft clearance)
Plugged it all in and turned it on Saturday evening...and NO NOISE from the head unit. So here is the final result. I may do a little more cleanup, and I may have to find a better way or a better place to mount the mic, as the cord hangs in front of my rear-view mirror. And I should tune the antenna.
But I am VERY happy with the results.

Pics arent great, but I moved mine from the rear to the front, mainly as a "feeler" so if the whip gets moved I'll know my roof lights will get hit.

Can you share more details on how you made this happen? And is the metal strap allowing the mount to 'ground plane' on the roof, or is it just for safety with lightening?

(Forgive my simpleton questions - I'm BRAND new to the dual-band world.)

This was a pretty slick install except for the mic location, on a fj cruiser which is much like our 4runners

Thanks for the ideas for my 07 sport salsa red V8 on antenna mount locations I have a NMO mag mount on my roof now

I no longer use CB since most all of my wheeling buddies use Ham. But when I did, it was a Cobra 75 with a Wilson Little Wil Magnetic mount on the roof. The box for the Cobra was was wired with a cigarette lighter plug and sat under the seat. Everything was easily removed for when I didn't need it and no holes drilled anywhere.

My current setup is a Yaesu FTM-350AR. The head unit is mounted in the cup holder slot. It can be removed in less then 10 seconds if I'm parked in a location where I'm concerned about theft. No holes drilled in the car for this set up either.

The mic is wired under the console up to where the ashtray used to be.

The speaker is a Yaesu MLS-200 dual speaker, mounted under the headrest.

The radio chassis is mounted in the rear storage compartment next to the aux battery power buss.

The antenna mount is a Diamond K400CNMO hatchback mount.

I use a 16" Comet SBB1NMO "rubber duckie" for everyday use. Makes it easier to get in and out of the garage.

When I hit the trails I use a Comet SBB5NMO antenna.

Here is my setup, Kenwood TM D710 VHF/UHF Transceiver. The antenna is a Diamond K400 lip mount with Comet "rubber ducky" antenna, like Dawg4runner's. There are no holes drilled since I'm using a suction cup mount.

I mounted my speakers on the B pillar with some Rivnuts and bolts and My gmrs Setup is a Wouxun 1000G Plus Mounted on a ram mount system on My rago fab center console Molle Pannel system with Bridge Plate mine is a 2007 salsa red Sport 4x4 4.7L V8 with dual Arb lockers and sherpa rack and side window pannels wish I could upload photos but all my photos are above 2 mbs

Here's my setup:

Radios (L to R) are:
CB - Galaxy 979
HF - Yaesu FT-857D (top)
2m/70cm - Yaesu FT-8800 (bottom)
GMRS - Vertex Standard VX-3200 (I change this out for a Kenwood TK-762G when I need MURS capability)

The antennas up front:
GMRS/MURS - Laird/Antenex dual band (150/450) on a mag mount behind moon roof
CB - Comtelco base loaded for low band

The antennas on the rear view are:
HF/6m (6m to 40m) - Yaesu ATAS 120a mounted to the L rear lamp guard
2m/70cm - Laird/Antenex dual band (140/440) permanently mounted
80m - hamstick mounted to R rear lamp guard (i do not drive around with this mounted but put it on today for the pic)

I hate..Hate..HATE using mag a mag mount for the GMRS/MURS antenna, but between the roof rack and moon roof, there was no more real estate to drill a hole. I looked closely at the the clearance of the moon roof and sheet metal of the roof when the it was open....but read some other posts here and decided against chancing it.

I know the mounting of the ATAS, hamstick, and CB sntennas are not optimal, but you have to consider other aspects as well - like overall size of the whip. I could put the ATAS on the roof somehow, but I did not want the $400 antenna wacking every remotely low hanging branch around here. I have worked Europe, Canada, and the Caribbean easily (from NY) and I like being able to look at it autotune from my rearview mirror.

I have found the 4Runner to be a great vehicle for radio installations, with all kinds of options.

DRcoffee - It would be interesting to see if any 4th gen 4runners have tried to replace their double din sized OEM radio with a single din radio and a single din CB as you did.

Yaesu FT 2980 - sunglasses mount

Here is a mount I did in my 2004 hilux surf. I removed the sunglasses holder and bolted a self made bracket to the clip holes in the metal. I just bent up an off cut from some stainless sheet that was lying around. The mount is very solid. I may try to do a mic cord relocation in the future. The antenna is just mounted on some bent flat bar on the hood corner.
