Looking for ideas.....

So my 4runner had it's running boards removed before I got it, I assume the brackets rusted out. I picked up some used ones today that I will mount so my wife has an easier time getting into the truck. My 4runner is a Limited so has the wiring to light up the boards but I couldn't find that style. Any thoughts on what to do with the wiring for cool lights? My thinking is maybe some LED strip lights or something similar to light up the area. Tell me your ideas! Thanks!

I use those on the interior of our limo fleet rugularly. You can get any color, length, and spacing you want from SuperbrightLEDs.Com. They work well but its not uncommon to lose an LED or have one start to flicker after a while.

Something you can attach with screws vs adhesive will probablly hold up much longer. Perhaps they have clips for those, but I have always used them on interior so I just used the adhesive backing they come with.

For the light idea:
A while back on facebook I saw these 4runner puddle lights. They're for fifth gens, but might be able to rig something under the running boards. They could be a tad rice, but also are mildly amusing

Haha, it can be interesting. Right now its a snooze fest with just about 0 trips on the books vs 50ish/day normally!

Does the original circuit power up with the doors open?

Unless someone disabled it somehow, the Limited running board lights do come on when you open the doors.

I assume the come on with the interior lights as Seeker mentions. I've never seen them work....lol. Maybe I should test them first.
