Looking for opinions about aftermarket leather...

Hey guys! So I've decided it's time to order my Classic Soft Trim aftermarket leather for my 06 Sport Edition. I've searched all the threads on aftermarket leather and have seen that most everyone has chosen a light or dark gray leather. I'm definitely leaning towards the dark (charcoal) gray since it best matches my interior (dark/light gray), but what I can't decide is if I should go with the contrast stitching option or not. A white or silver stitch might look nice. I actually saw a 4Runner last year with black leather and a white stitch... pretty sporty, but I'm still not convinced. Perhaps my T4R family can help... what do you guys think?

Do the dark charcoal with a black stitching. It will be subtle , but sporty. When I finally break down and get my kit, I'm gonna do a two-tone dark gray/black suede.

I dunno.. It's hard to tell. I think dark with white or grey stitching would look good. Especially if the stitching matches the grey part of the interior, and the leather matched the dash.

I personally have dark charcoal, but the stitching doesn't contrast. I think it looks good this way too. It just flows and doesn't have a disruption in sight. But that type of subtle contrast may be very nice. Hard to tell without seeing it though..

I've seen a '05 and '06 SE with black leather and white stitching. The black '06 was at Melody Toyota in San Bruno with Coach leather and white stitching. It looked very good, but the leather wasn't too soft though. If they still have that truck over there, I'll try and get some pictures.

I like the contrasting look, but I think black stitching will be safe and definately will not have you second guessing your decision. Personally, my bigger concern with white stitching is would it get dirty or pick up other colors, like from dark color jeans. We had a cream colored leather couch before and when a guest sat on it with dark colors, it darkened up the area. Just another thought to consider.

I think plain black without contrastiing stitching looks better on the Sport Edition. A light gray stitch that matches the carpet would look good too.

I've been thinking of changing my tan leather to black with tan piping since I really prefer a black interior, but don't want it to look out of place when all the interior seat plastics on my car are tan.

What's the average cost of getting aftermarket leather thrown into a 4Runner?

Around $1000. I think it's about $500 more for the heated front seats option.

That's not a bad idea... make the seat leather the same color as the upper dash and door panels, then make the stitching the light gray like the lower dash and carpet. Hmmmm...

By the way, my girlfriend and I had a difference of opinion about this matter yesterday when I brought it up. Perhaps my eyesight's going, but I thought the upper dash and door panels are a dark gray. The girlfriend claims they're flat black. Since that color will determine whether I go black or dark charcoal for the leather, I need confirmation. Anyone?
