Looking for Opinions on White Lettering

Black all the way...the whites look awesome with the lighter colored 'runners, but as a fellow owner of a black 'runner, you want to keep that evil Darth Vader look intact all the way. Even if you were going to chrome it up a bit, the all-black on the tires still looks awesome against the black body.

I just got a set of 265 70/17 REVOs last weekend. I have a silver 4runner and I kept the whit lettering out. I think it looks great. I think it would look great on a black 4runner too. By the way, the tires are great.

...were cool back in 1985, along with window louvers, pinstripes, curb feelers, and those little chrome handles on the B-pillars.

to 1975....disco, Angel's Flight butthugger pants (Boy, I had to jump up and down to get into them!), platform shoes, shiny shirts unbuttoned to the navel, gold chains, Farah Fawcett hairdo for the gals, white walls, 8-track stereo, white lettering on those Firestone 500 glass belted tires, light bars on those "landau" roofs, "opera" windows...ah those were the days.....

But black out is best. clean, not so busy, emphasizes the color difference better,

Hello all,

I'm planning on getting some better shoes for my 4runner in the near future. I'll probably be going with REVO's in 265/70/17.

The question I have is whether to have the white raised letters onboard or in. Since I have a Black Limited 4WD I'm not sure how the white letters will look. Will they look weird on a Limited?

So... Blackwall or White Letters?



Since your vehicle is LIMITED black. Therefore, it blends much better with the BLACK LETTERS out. white letters out will looks sportier on SPORT EDITION.

Difference of Opinion

Opinions vary greatly on this forum, which is great. Obviously, Loner is speaking of his Plymouth Torismo he had in high school, which had all of the above. And he's right, putting white out on your new IS or 3 series would not be cool. I personally believe that white letters out will put a little sport in your limited.

No, even worse - window louvers and vinyl top on a Honda Accord... and chrome wheels with spinners and one of those retarded windshield decals that said "Chevy" (duh) on a S-10.

The Verdict is in.

I'm going Blackwalls out on my replacement tires.

This is how I see it:

SR5 / Sport Models - White Letters out looks better.

Limited - Blackwalls out looks better.

Of course, the color of your 4Runner and your personal taste will factor into this.

My 2 cents...

If you have a smaller vehicle, or a truck/SUV with big wheels (17-20+"), black-out is the best way to go. That way, the armor all shines nicely and showcases the wheels.

For muscle cars or trucks/SUVs with average size wheels (15-17") and taller sidewalls, I like white-out to give some contrast. The wheels aren't anything special to showcase, so might as well dress up the tire a bit.

Of course, if you do lots of off roading like some of the members of this forum, your decision to go black-out may have more function than form to it. Either way, you're driving a 4Runner, so nobody will fault you for your decision, whatever it may be.

I'm getting Revos installed this week and I'm going with black. I just like the look better.

I say white, especially if you have a sport. I don't understand all the hate for white out. I think it looks much sportier. I think the black out makes the 4runner look like a soccer mom mobile.
My dealer replaced my dunlops with michelin x-terrains, but didn't have the ones with white letters. I now have black out and I hate the way it looks. I'm even considering changing almost brand new tires just because I hate the way it looks (plus I'd rather have a more aggressive tire than the x-terrain)
Anyone want to buy some almost new x-terrains? j/k
