Looking for some clarification on an 05' UPDATE & OPINIONS NEEDED

Looking at an 05 sport and after reading through all the lift faq section just wanted to double check. Since this vehicle has xreas, am I ok to use the daystar 2.5/1.5 spacer lift and not have issues?
And second I am going to add the TRD pro 17x7 wheels and wanted to know what the largest tire I can fit on it without having rubbing issues? 275/70?

1. Typically you can run spacers with xreas w/out issues. Something to consider is how many miles is currently on the stock suspension. Typically ride quality starts deteriorating between 100k and 150k, rate of deterioration can vary widely and is subjective depending on the severity of the mod bug. xreas can sometimes fail/leak more quickly than its standard counterpart.

If you plan on keeping it, you may consider the xreas system entirely. More expensive, but cheaper in the long run if you have to replace the stock suspension a year or two from now.

2. Not a tire expert, but I would guess they would fit with slight rubbing? The spacer you mentioned is quite 3" and that may cause a little rubbing. I'm sure somebody else can chime in with more helpful feedback.
 
The lift faq shows that you can only use the front spacers and not the rear spacers on an xreas system. Is that still correct?
 
dont waste your time installing a lift without getting rid of xreas and putting in some new shocks or fj/tacoma bilstein take offs.

Yes, your good with the the Daystar lift for both front and rear with XREAS. I ran this set up until last weekend as one of my XREAS struts was leaking. You should be ok with 275's, but some T4r's will experience some rubbing with extreme articulation and some won't as they are a "little" unique. It's a good affordable option for a first lift, but after replacing with OME, I wished I'd done it sooner.

Thanks! Going to look at it today. It had 121k on it, which is a bit more than I wanted but it's also $3k less than most I have looked at it, and it's silver which my wife likes. I just have to decide between the black or gray wheels, but I am leaning towards black. It needs new tires so it is actually a perfect time to upgrade the wheels.
 
Anything else I should look at that would be a red flag? Didn't get to see it yesterday as we had a blizzard here. I did speak with the owner and he indicated that he had someone from Duluth make him an offer but he did not have any agreement made with him. I think he just wants to deal local and Duluth is like 6 hours away. So he wanted to get together after the blizzard. So hopefully today
 
Ok, I have a question, not too far off topic. What is the big push for guys to run FJ coils when new Toytec and OME lifted coils are as reasonable as they are? The bonus to the Toytec and OME coils is that they add much needed quality spring rate in our under sprung 4Runners. Consider when you go wheeling, you have a full tank of fuel, a passenger or three, some gear such as recovery gear, hi-lift jack, tools, a cooler maybe some chairs, and other sorted equipment. Then we add larger tires and wheels. Then maybe a full sized spare to match our new larger tires. All this weight adds up to a real crappy handling ride. I cant see the FJ coils being that much heavier than our already heavy 4Runners. Just something thats been on my mind. Didnt mean to hijack the thread. Thanks.
 
It is a good thing you are buying it. That is a great price for the miles. I would poach it from you but I bought a 2007 SR5 Sport in December.

Just got back. Think it's a no go. Kind of dinged up, paint missing. Clear missing off rims and etc etc. kind of bummed but on the flip side I really did not want an xreas system to deal with. It's all yours
 
The owner did make wierd comment. He said sometimes it can take up to a minute to go from 2wd to 4wd, but if he drives in a circle with the wheel cranked it goes into 4wd much faster. I was like WTF? Any idea why that would be?
 
Make sure that you check the frame for rot and repair. That would be the #1 thing to check. I picked my my 05 SE in October with 119k in about the same condition for 8k if that help to put things in perspective for you, but I am also a fierce negotiator.
 
The frame actually looked pretty good. It just needed about $1500 of body work, new wheels and tires and some interior items, which are wear items like floor mats etc..
