So I have ran a few tires on my 01 4Runner so far:
BFG KO2s 265/75/16 - good tires and ended up swapping them over to my Tacoma. They were louder than anticipated but not bad overall.
Michelin LTX 265/75/16 - good tires but threw rocks as much as possible. When the KO2s got low tread I moved the LTX to the Tacoma (it gets less miles yearly). They now have 30,000 miles and look brand new. If you go off road at all be prepared to air down to make these tires work right off road.
Hankook MT 235/85/16 - great tread for off roading, louder than AT tires, heavier than most tires due to the load range. I got about 45,000 miles before a suspension issue messed up two tires.
Hankook DynaPro ATM 265/75/16 - my favorite tire so far. They are super quiet on the road (my wife likes to sleep on road trips), handle rain really well, balance nicely, and weight is much lower than the previous tires so I gained 1.5 mpg back. For the money I will be getting them again.
My 4Runner averages between 35,000 and 45,000 miles a year between work and overland trips so I go through tires a lot. So far the DynaPros have become my favorite by far and since they have a 50,000 mile guarantee they are that much better. They performed well in the Ozark National Forest on the dirt when aired down and they perform well Mon-Fri getting me around town for work.
