I'll add my .02 here... The Cooper AT3 XLT's are a good all terrain tire. I have them right now. They aren't aggressive in my opinion but they do well on sand when it comes to off-road. As far as normal daily driving, rain, dry, they're fine. Plenty of other great options out there. I've just had great luck with Cooper over the past 8 years or so and will likely stick with them for the foreseeable future.

Road noise - how would you rate these?
I've used K02s, Wranglers and Michelin LTX AT2s, the first two are rather noisy above about 35mph, the Michelin's are near silent and pretty darn good off-road especially helped with the side snipes in all types of soils, sand, rock.
I use 265/75/16; I too need new tires. Problem is Michelin stopped making that size (only 265/70/16). I am kinda leaning towards a 285/75/16. So now I too am shopping around. Hmmm.

So I have them in the 285/75/16 flavor. I went to these after the St Maxx's and comparatively to those, these are a lot more quiet on the road. I had BFG A/T's years and years ago, but I'd say the AT3 XLT's are indeed very quiet. I will say when the time comes to get new tires, I'm gonna go back to the St Maxx's and in a different size. I'm not too worried about road noise, but those St Maxx's were a unicorn tire.

I'll second the wild peaks if you deal with snow. Also great in the rain. They have yet to get me stuck off-road to even though they are a harder compound and because they are harder they wear great. I've got 265/70r17s currently and I'm going to probably go pizza cutter 33s when mine finally wear out.

255/80s. I'm on 17s that are from a 4th gen.
My 4Runner came with Goodyear Wranglers in a 265/70/16. After lifting the truck: I bought Toyo Open Country AT in a 265/75/16. They were... fine... They didn't balance well and weren't very round, which was a common complaint. I've had BFG AT non-KO and the KO, both in a 285/75/16. They non-KO's were better and wore like iron. The KO's were terrible in the rain and wore out quickly overall. I'm on my 2nd set of General Grabber AT2 in a 285/75/16. Better than the BFG AT KO in rain, snow and off-road in my experience. I have a Yukon Grizzly locker in the rear which is hard on tires, so I won't get the mileage I used to get with anybody's tires. Having said that, the Grabbers wear well and are really quiet on road. I rotate often to even up the wear between F/R. The new version is the Grabber ATX.

I like my Goodyear Adventurers. They are close to what came stock. Driven them from dry pavement to deep snow and they’ve done well considering they are great on road too.
The Adventurers were discontinued but one of tires in the new Territory line is essentially the same tire with changes in siping.
I’ve driven the KO2 on a jeep and they are better off road, but you’ll lose some steering feel over the above.
