Looking to lift Spacers? Coilovers?

Im getting a 4runner and know the first thing I will do to it is lift it.. 3"

Why are coilovers better than spacers?
Yes I offroad.

If I go with Coiilovers what kit should I get? I was looking at toytec but I heard OEM is better for something dont quite understand..

I don't tow much but I rather not have the rear sag just because I have a few hundred pounds of stuff in the back.. Please help me out..

If you off road and you want a 3" lift coilovers are the only way IMO.

Yes you can off road with spacers but they limit articulation and put unnecessary on the car.

I recommend SAW/Icon as a couple of members on here have them and rave about them

OME offer a very harsh ride so I hear

HB 4x4 will help you out - he has had pretty much every lift you could ever want.

Check out toyota120.com as they are geared towards more off road outfitting.

What year/model are you getting?

With the whole icon saw thing.. I'm not very knowledgable about car suspension so I don't quite understand how you put thin in here and attach this to that etc... So where can I get info about this mix?

And I might do that.. I'm not an idiot just need a friggen picture or something.. I just don't understand what parts from icon and what parts from saw.. First time hearing this

Spencer there are a couple different ways you could do this.

You could purchase just the Icon C/O's and Icon rear springs or SAW C/O's and SAW rear springs, you could even mix and match.

There is a decent deal on a complete kit on toyteclifts.com that includes their front C/O's and rear springs. It is just going to depend on how much $$ you want to spend in some cases and what type of ride you want and how much off-roading you do.

Also, keep in mind that some C/O's are rebuildable and the toytec ones are not.

If you look at combinations other then the toytec kit, you will have to purchase some rear shocks. I believe HB4x4 is using Icon shocks with his SAW rear springs. There are some other options but you would need to shop around.

Toytec:

SAW Front C/O (2" or 2.5")

SAW Rear Spring

Icon Front C/O's

Icon Rear Springs

R8R gave some good advice - GO WITH TOYTECH!!
SAW and Icon only give you 6 coils in the rear where Toytec gives you 8. You cant, and wont, go wrong with Toytech.

I would say Icon are the best without a doubt, followed by SAW, followed by Toytec. I just think the shocks on the Icons and SAW's (2.5 that is) offer much better performance and cooling than those are the Toytec.

I would not say the number of coils mean very much in real world performance, just my two cents....

Also, look into some new UCA's to go with your coilovers.

i went with toytec, (eibach springs -bilstein shocks) since theyre coilovers are alot less $ than the icons. would off gone with the icons or saw instead if i had the money on hand, (rebuildable,firmer, etc.) but the toytec serve me just fine , great street ride, yet firm enough for light offroad use. & like i said, alot less $. fatbobs garage sometimes has good deals, you might have to get rear springs /shocks seperate tho, but they might do the kit. good luck, either way any of the brands mentioned are good.
