They talk about the other vehicle being based on the ford platform but they never say anything about the other vehicle other than it competes with the Jeep Wrangler. Definitely looks like a concept that will maybe get Toyota thinking for a next generation of the FJ.

Meh...its a MORE blocky Jeep Unlimited and a bodied out F350 pick up...
i could take it or leave it.
Im sure the jeep does what it is intended to do...but making it look like a child's toy doesn't make it more appealing to me...Seems to me, part of the jeeps capability comes from its size, correct? its still nimble enough to get thru spaces when it has to. this thing just sort of sizes it out of that.
As for the bigger one...yeah, i guess it will be kool in the next Expendables movie...but as an owned vehicle, not really...its why the original Hummer stopped being a wanted vehicle. its big, its brawny, and it gets 4 miles to the gallon...where are you going off road with that without a convoy of army fuelers following you, ya know...

Personally I'd love to see more compact "light-weight" wrangler-esque vehicles on the market....like an FJ that is actually closer to the original.
Something that is simple and rugged would be great (the look of an older FJ, older land rovers)...the "I'm ready for a war in the year 2186" look is a bit much for me.
With all the crash requirements and epa regulations with cars these days I realize that may not be possible.

Close, its an F450 frame and chassis underneath but a completely one off body design. They just reincorporated some of the existing parts. Saw these at the San Diego Auto Show earlier this month, they're pretty freaking awesome. Interiors put Merc G wagons to shame too.
