Loose Arm Rest on 2014 TE

Hey guys, so I bought my 2014 TEP back in April and a few months ago I started to notice that the driver's side door arm rest cushion is getting loose. It seems to depend on how hot it is inside the truck, but when I put pressure on the arm rest it makes an awful rubbing/squeaking sound. Just had my first service and Toyota says they can't figure out what the problem is either. They offered to replace the entire door panel, but before I give them the go ahead, I was wondering what you guys think. Has anyone else had this type of issue? The worst area where I get the most play in the arm rest is right where the cushion meets the dimpled part of the interior, and begins its round curve. I can post pictures if anyone needs more clarification. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Why not let them replace the panel? There's a lot of uni-construction in that area. The problem may not be cured by removing and tweeking something inside the panel.

You are fortunate to have a dealer who is willing to help. Many could care less.
 
I think I also have this. It's more of a crunching/rubbing sound than squeaking when a little bit of pressure is applied by my elbow. I didn't get the dealer to look at it during my last service in August because I could not duplicate. It seemed to be more prevalent in the colder months.

Anyway, if it bothers you, just get it fixed... why the hesitation? Warranty...

The sound does make a crunching like sound sometimes too. Thanks for the input guys... I will just have the dealer replace it. Sometimes I think that I might just be too picky with my things. Or that I might just have a super elbow!

Mine does the same thing !
 
So this just started happening on my 15 Trail. It's got 33,000 miles on it, so I'm sure I'm out of luck with Toyota. Anyone deal with this on their own, and if so how?
 
If your dealer can't figure this out - I hope there is another dealer you can go to when you have a serious problem. Seriously it's not rocket science and apparently there is a history of this issue. Did they even look into that?

I believe [MENTION=20381]05Rrunner[/MENTION] remedied the problem by applying a light coat of hand lotion on the contact points. Checkout the search function for confirmation.

Mine is doing the same thing at 10k miles, a new door panel is being ordered under warranty
 
Mine too, developed the creak after a few thousand miles after new. It's just the softex on your armrest rubbing against the softex on your door panel at the joint as the armrest slightly flexes under the weight of your body. I was in 2 new 4Runners at the dealership yesterday and they had the same flex, just no noise (yet).

Just use some non-colored hand lotion or some type of interior protectant product at the joint and the noise is gone. That's what solved mine. Getting the whole panel replaced is massive overkill and will inevitably lead to more creaks and rattles, which will drive you crazier than this totally fixable problem.
 
Yes, it's the armrest and the door panel squeaking. I put a little bit of lotion in the seem where they meet . I'm sure any type of lubricant would work but I used a little hand lotion and it was gone and never returned. Hope this helps
