Hello i have a 2007 t4r sr5 4x4 v6 with 63000 miles all stock the only after market stuff is the viper security /starter .Well today i was driving it and i lost power, yes i tried to merge into trafic doing probably 15 mph and the gas pedal was not obeing my command i pressed it 3 times and nothing so after the 4 time it went , anybody have any idea why this happened? it happened after i went over a few bumps too....... but i dont think this should happen at all rite? i do have extended warranty until 100 k..... thanks

the rig never shut off, everything was on ! but the gas pedal was not responding it felt like the fuel shut off and i had a about 1/4 of tank..
i do have a v8 vehicle, but is not a toyota .Trust me there is not big difference between v8 and v6 ,,, and no i did not had it towed . This just happened for about 4 seconds....... but i think i know what the problem was i hope this is the problem.
ok check this out I only had a about 1/4 of gas ,and when i hit the bump the rig was rocking sideways.So i think the fuel was moving like crazy inside the thank , therefore the pump could not detect the petro... well thats my theory.....

Thats what I was thinking... What was the weather?? Rainy? Snowy? Dry? Did you hear any beeping??

1/4 tank should still be plenty to function properly over a bump. I don't think that's the culprit, and your engine did not shut off.

Definitely traction control kicking in. Its annoying as hell because it usually cuts power when you need it most, i.e. trying to accelerate to merge when its a little slippery. Basically if the ABS senses any wheel spin, it assumes you are about to spin out off a cliff and cuts power to regain traction. You should have a switch on the lower left side of the dash that will disable it temporarily. Read the manual, it tells you how the switch works. You can press it once and it will turn off VSC (vehicle stability control) or you can hold it down for like 3 sec and it will turn off VSC and Trac control, depending on what mode of 4x4 you are in.
Thanks for all you help guys now !!now i feel much better, but if traction control kicked in how come i dont see any lights go off on my dash? no beeps either i have a 740 il and whenever i loose traction i see lights flashing,,,,,, yeah im going to read the entire manual ..if anything i will take it to the dealer and have them check it out. i bought this t4r from a chick i dont know how well she treated the rig!!!!!!!i noticed also the rig does not go in 4 low i tried like 5 times it just blinks if i move it beeps,,,:AK47:

Until you posted the car no one was going to be able to help you. Everyone was posting answers for a 4runner. The 740 is a great car, but I had problems with BMW's in the past if the AFM was old doing the same thing. I don't know the year so can't really say much else, but you should look at the AFM/MAF if you start seeing hesitation issues. You could also be looking at crank/cam sensors... hard to say. I really don't even know if it's a cable or drive-by-wire car.

Re read his post, he is talking about his 4runner, the post where he talks about his BMW is just a comparison of the traction control kicking in.
