Lots of white smoke

I start it up and rev up engine and get lots of white smoke out of exhaust. The temp huge doesn't move so I don't know how hot it's getting.

Is the only cause for heavy white smoke coolant in cylinders?

Guy I got the truck off of said The timming belt skipped a couple teeth so i didnt run it much and towed it home. but based on all the smoke I'm suspecting head gasket or worse.

I'm going to do a compression test tomorrow and pressurize the rad and see.

Typically white smoke is solely coolant in the combustion chamber, sorry mate.

yeah I figured it probably was..

so I started to do a compression test. on the right side starting from the front of the engine I got 150, 100, 150

I only got to the front cylinder on the left side and it was 120.

I was standing outside hooking up the compression tester and my doors randomly locked on me...so I got to break in tomorrow lol...not sure why they automatically locked with me outside the truck..key was in the ignition..

I also did a cooling system pressure test. put it up to 13 psi and let it sit over 15mins and it didn't drop.

based on the right side would u assume head gasket?

If your not losing coolant pressure I'd say no. Drive it till it gets hot op temp
Then do a pressure test. Very dangerous if your not familiar how to safely open a hot radiator cap. Try at your own risk

yeah its white like that..

would the one cylinder being 100 psi compared to 150 on either side along with white smoke indicate head gasket?

I will get it up to operating temp tomorrow and try again

Are you losing coolant. You should be losing lots if your getting that much smoke. And that one being lower probably isn't the one that's breached I'd think it'd probably be lower.

well I have barley run it. I got it towed to my house and ive ran it for maybe 15mins max since I got it, so its hard to say if im loosing coolant. level was right up

also my temp gauge didn't rise, not sure if its not working or hooked up. not sure where the sensor is yet

Go to your nearest auto parts store and ask to borrow the block test kit. There's a lot of ways for a driveway mechanic to diagnose a bad head gasket, but that's the easiest.

I wouldn't bother going too far out of your way to diagnose a ton of things. If your compression is that low it looks like you're at a minumum pulling the heads. The low compression could be due to bad valves or worn piston rings. But at only 230k kms (143k miles), I doubt there are any issues with the piston rings.

You may want to just go ahead and pull the heads and have a machine shop take a look at them, clean them and do valve work as necessary. Take a good look at your cylinder walls, if there isn't any scoring on the cylinder walls then I would think that your bottom end is good. After that measure the deck of the block with a straight edge and a set of feeler guages. If the deck is good them install new head gaskets and reassemble the engine. This could be a somewhat easy and inexpensive fix if you're mechanically inclined.

im still waiting for my tow truck buddy to unlock my door so I haven't got any further with the compression test but I did pull off the intake tube that goes from the throttle body to air filter housing and it was full of oil..

what causes that? high crankcase pressure?

ok so I completed my compression test and I have 150, 90,150 on the left
and 120, 90, and a big 0 on the right side.

so I have lots of smoke on acceleration, lots of oil blow by and a dead cylinder.

any one have thoughts to what the issue would be on that cylinder?

the spark plug was wet when I pulled it so its getting fuel

SV is right, it doesn't matter. That motor is shot. Get it out of the truck and tear it down so you can decide if you're going to rebuild it or replace it.
