Good reading for sure. I neglected to say I have a 2017 Ford F150 4x4 with the 5.0 but it is work vehicle..... It already has a few minor issues but it is quick! I'll have to check out the Northern Tool trailers. If they fold up against the wall that may be the ticket! I built a trailer a few months ago to haul my Hobie Pro Angler 14 and I can "hide" it under my screened in porch. I could probably get by with a 4x8 and solve all of my problems

@OP - How often do you need the bed of a truck and for what?

Have you thought about or looked into one of those folding trailers from Harbor Freight?

I bought one about 20 years ago and used the heck out of it to haul four dirt-bikes to the desert multiple times a year behind our RV.

I need to do a full R&R on mine but it has certainly been worth the $300 I paid for it. I fold mine up and store it next to the house but they can easily fit next to a garage wall as well.

I cringe every time I pass a 3rd gen on the road after owning one for a year. Don’t regret it one bit trading it for the 4runner. It was too small in every way for such a long truck. Never enough room inside or in the bed. Engine/trans combo sucks.

Totally agree. Sold my 2017 DCSB OR and picked up a 2014 4runner and am kicking myself I didn't do it sooner. That engine and its weak low-end made it feel like work to drive, particularly on the highway. After one week in the 4runner I can't believe I put up with that Taco for a year.

no way, get the o.g. raptor if you can swing it. if you're going to get a truck, you may as well get a fullsize. i dont really see the point to the midsized truck unless you need to park it often in a large city.

I was looking for a Tacoma before I bought my 12' Runner.
I had an S10 Blazer w power seats and was looking at Tacos for several months, but when I got to the point of really shopping, going through the pros and cons, I realized no Taco has ever been built with a power seat. At 6'6" they're almost a must have for me.
Still amazes me at that price point there is not a trim option for PWR seats. Doesn't seem to hurt their sales tho.

Anyway, I've never regretted and pretty much revere the 4Runner. Now own 3, just because.
Get rid of a toy or two and buy a 1st gen Taco or Tundra for the bed space when you need it, and keep the Runner lol.

Sounds to me like it's time move........

If they dictate what's in it once it's in the garage, that's crossing the line.

I just put up my 2015 TRD Pro Tacoma for sale. My wife wants a new car and I'm going to take her 2015 T4R SR5 Premium over as mine, and sell the truck. I hardly use the bed of the truck anymore.

As an aside, I'll make someone a fantastic deal on a built 2015 TRD Pro Tacoma on 35s. :biggrin1:

The Tacoma definitely feels cramped compared to the 4Runner, and they are asking a lot for it (especially the TRD pro edition). Tundras fix all that, but they are very hard on fuel. T4R is built in Japan, which gives me greater confidence in the build quality. I would say T4R with a trailer is the best of both worlds.

Well OP was looking at smaller trucks like the tacoma, so the raptor ranger would be more inline with what he was looking at. I personally would take the ranger over the larger raptor because it is much more narrow and better for trails. Whenever I am ready to buy a truck I probably won't be dicken around with anything other than a 6.7l diesel anyways

It's just a shame those Raptor Rangers(if they come here to the USA) will be probably $45k+. People will buy them like they do for the F-150 Raptors at almost $70k(which is absolutely crazy for an F-150). I could have two of my current XLT's for the price of a single Raptor!!

LOL! The Raptor is not a truck, don't bother with it if you need a truck. Also Ford has ruined it with that ecocrap motor in it. It sounds like a VW beetle with a hole in the exhaust.

I lived in a HOA community once...never will again. Good luck in coming up with a solution OP, hope you can keep the 4.
