Any completed circuit can drain power... but if the circuit is completed, then the device would be in constant operation, and I feel like that would give itself away.
Unless it burns out...
Does your truck hatch open correctly? If so, then the latch circuit is not stuck in a completed cycle.
Second, the rear window lock is not an active circuit, meaning it doesn't create a "complete power circuit", it actually interrupts one. Does that make sense? All the rear power lock does is psychically disconnect the power transfer line for those 3 windows controlled by it. This means is it a passive and purely mechanical lock. No electricity is used to "lock" the windows.
It would be possible for an individual window motor to be blow, and stuck open, draining power. This, again, would make itself evident by an inoperable window motor. In this case, engaging the window lock would actually stop it from occurring, as it would be shutting off the transfer path for the electrical signal and power.
Make sense??
So, here is what I suggest. The only way any of what they said in those two cases to be true, is if you had a serious malfunction in your latch and window. They are not complex CPU circuits. They are simple 2 state latches. Power - open, power - close. Meaning, pressing the window button, or the open back latch simply transmits a momentary electrical pulse that actives ONLY BRIEFLY the mechanism.
Make sense? SO. Check the function of every door lock. Latch. Window. Up, down. Lock.
If it all works. They are wrong.
