Low milage problems with 2008 V6

Since I just bought a fairly low milage 2008 v6 4Runner,I would like to hear from others who have low milage trucks.
And any problems they have had,and anything I should be expecting.

Thank you for the thread with information in regards to my question,but it's a little more detailed reading then I am looking for.

What I am looking for is have any low milage 08 4runners had oil leaks? Has any of the 08 v6 4runners had engine related problems with their low milage?

Has the electronics held up on the low milage 08 4runners.

Any thing people have done with their 4runners special in regards to being driven few miles?

How has the cooling systems held up with their low milage 4runners.

Some of my question are for all 08 4runners even 09s should be included,also both v6&v8 2wd&4wd

My truck is just v6&2wd but other items might effect it just as it was a v8&4wd,
Maybe this will get me more direct answers to my question.
 
i bought my 07 v6 4wd with 51k on dec31 2014. No problems, only the bulbs for the climate control were burnt out, besides that i have no problems. I'm at 54k now and no problems so far.
 
No problems with my 2008 V6...ever. This thing is amazing. Never been in repair shop, has 108K on it. Need to get the brakes and coolant replaced soon though.
Suggest replacing all fluids with full synthetic.
 
I also have 47k on the 07 v8 I bought two years ago with only 25k on it at the time. It's been perfect.

Did the driveshaft replacement, brakes, and put on Bilstein 5100's but have had zero problems with it. Will probably have it for many many more years.

I'm a big city train commuter so don't put many miles on but make sure to drive her at least 5miles a day and use synthetic.

I haven't seen ANY complaints on low mileage V6 models. V6 (1GRFE) doesn't suffer from any known widespread oil leak.

Has the electronics held up on the low milage 08 4runners.

Electronics on these cars are bulletproof from what I've seen.

Again, I got mine at 70,000 miles which is RELATIVELY low. This was 5 years ago. Look for (or have Toyota or mechanic) any signs of a stuck brake caliper. Not hugely common, but common enough to warrant an examination on yours.

Even with low miles, get the coolant changed. At a Toyota dealer, they do a "fluid exchange" which is SORT of like a flush, but properly done.

You MIGHT experience a "thud" when releasing the brake at a stop. This is normal. Just have the drive shaft (propeller shaft) lubed and it should silence it. If it continue to "thump", no worries as NO ONE has had a failure. 4x4 models seem to do it more, but I have read 4x2 models do it too.

Maybe this will get me more direct answers to my question.

I have a 2008 4runner that i bought new that currently has 47,000 miles on it.

I have only had 2 problems.

1) I had to replace the gas cap (i read somewhere that they only last 5 to 6 years).

2) 4wd problem.. even though i exercise the 4wd and transfer case often i had a hard time getting into 4wd this winter when i really needed it. After several attempts it did go into 4wd. I then switched it back and forth many times the following weeks and it now works fine. But, the operation of the 4wd and switching into 4 low would be my first concern with a vehicle that wasn't driven much.
 
On the 2008 V6 with 70K miles that I bought a year ago, I've had to replace the gas cap and two of the info center bulbs. That's it. I'm hoping it gives me 250k miles like my old Durango...

I will never live to see maybe 100K miles. But really happy your 08 v6 4runner is doing so well.
 
Bought '08 new in November '07. Now have just under 62k miles. Have been religious about routine maintenance. Only problem was with 4-LO. Lights flashed on dash, but unit would not engage. Didn't exercise it. Tapped on actuator with a wrench handle and it freed up. Now exercise it on the oneth of every month. No problems since.

Had tranny fluid changed out by dealer before the recommended 100k service interval because I tow a boat. They used Toyota WS (World Service) tranny fluid and followed proper fill procedures. Costco coupon saved 15% from parts and labor. Other maintenance, including plugs every 30k, differential fluids, engine oil and drive shaft lube, have been done by me. Have date-stamped pics with that day's newspaper for each service, along with receipts for parts, for proof. Everything is organized in a neat 3-ring binder.

My V6 T4R has been rock solid. If it is ever sold (I'd rather it be buried with me when the time comes) the new owner should be very happy indeed.

This again is good news mine is a 2wd v6, but the other items are the same as mine except I don't tow anything.

Kinda confused here - you "will never live to see maybe 100K." What does that mean?

And you've been asked at least three times your definition of "low mileage" but you keep ignoring it. Why?
 
My 08 now has 120600 miles on her. No issues. My drive shaft is making noise but the last couple times I changed my oil I was in a time crunch so I couldn't get to the grease fittings. I'm a hair overdue on an oil change now, so I'm shooting for this weekend so I'll have time to grease it. No biggie.

+100 on ensuring you exercise the 4wd system (if you're looking at a 4x4). And don't believe the people who say the tranny fluid, steering fluid, coolant, etc. are "lifetime" fluids. There are many write-ups here, on toyota120, and others to guide you through DIY fluid changes (if you're the DIY type). Not really hard at all. Also look at the Tacoma World site, the FJ Cruiser site, and the Toyota Nation site. You can find DIY write-ups there too which will apply to the 4Runner as it shares powerplant and front IFS with tacos and FJ's.

I noticed early 4th gens (2003-2005) had issues with head gaskets, but I believe that was fixed around the 2006 mid-model update. I can't think of any HG threads by folks with later 4th gens. Just don't let it overheat. That was a common contribution issue.

Sticking brake calipers (front especially) has been well documented here. Not sure what's up with that. I think northern locales tend to see more issues. I'm in NC and we get salt brine during the winter, but our winter is fairly short. I've never had any issues. I keep an eye on pad wear when I rotate my tires and when I changed my pads, they were all very evenly worn. I'd say make sure your slide pins stay lubricated.

The rear door handle (the rubber button cover) tends to melt in hot weather. The replacement will run you about 40 bones if yours melts and you want to swap it out. Mine needs it, I plan on getting a new one this spring.

I have a phantom water leak I'm trying to track down. I'll find moisture under my driver's side floor mat. No noticeable problems in the typical areas (holes in floor board, damage to boot where conduit passes through the firewall, leaks from the heater core lines, etc.). Some have reported this problem cropped up following a windshield replacement. As far as I know mine is a factory windshield so IDK what the deal is, but I consider it a minor issue.

EDIT: I see you said you have a 2wd.....
