Low speed front end 'tick'

Gents (and ladies),

The last few days I've started to hear/feel a rhythmic ticking or click sound. It's not a clunk or anything violent, just loud enough to be noticeable.

I jacked the truck up, put it in neutral and spun the driveshaft, and it sounds driveshaft related. I can't seem to pinpoint it; tried greasing the driveshaft (by the way, why are the slip joints such a pain in the ass...I'm not really sure but most of the grease seemed to end up outside the zerk on the front and rear slip joints) but that didn't change anything.

It really only happens with my foot off or only lightly applying the gas, and usually only up to about 15-20 mph.

Anyone experience this? I've been digging around and have done plenty of reading on the driveshaft clunk, but I don't think this is that.

The truck needs an experienced mech's once over anyways, but I figured I'd hit you guys up to see if anyone had any ideas.

I'll have to slide under there and look again and actually wiggle and jiggle the U joints and see if that front one is starting to go.

Didn't think of that, I thought the shaft might have been tapping the tunnel but that doesn't seem to the case.

Thanks.

Already looked at sway bar links and all the bushings...they're fine.
