LR3 VS 4Runner

My buddy has one that's about 5 months old... Stereo's out. He got in his car for his commute to work... Stereo lights up... but no sound. I don't think he's too happy with the car (even before this incident).

They have abysmal reliability ratings. I'd stick with the Yoda if you want a vehicle that won't leave you stranded. :)

My neighbor has an LR3 and it is absolutely beautiful to look at in the driveway. The car is almost 3 years old and has spent an average of 15 days per year in the shop for repairs. They tried to sell it, but they can only get about half of what they paid for it. Land Rover has one excellent platform (Range Rover), and a couple of other mediocre platforms.
For comparison, my 4runner is the same age and has spent a total of 10 hours in the shop for oil changes and oxygen sensors replaced (under warranty).

Land Rovers and H2s are at the bottom of JD Power rankings this last few years. LRs look good but they are unreliable expensive to own vehicles.

My neighbor's late-model LR Discovery was hauled away on a flatbed last Saturday - wouldn't start. It hasn't come home yet. As the other posters have said, LR's reliability is terrible and their resale value stinks. They are pretty good off-road vehicles, but are best left in the driveway as you are then sure you can get home easily when (not if) it breaks.

Thai , you should post that on a land rover forum if you haven't already - I'm sure they'd love to see that :D

Cool picture

I'd be willing to wager the 4R if it could be graphed itself, would be way at the far right hand side of that thing.

very nice picture, i guess this is a very strong speaking to show my mom that my 4R is way better than her junky M.B ML, :D :D :D

Doesn't matter....Range/Land Rovers are absolute garbage. I can't believe people actually spend money on such utter trash.

Totally agree... however friend with Land Rover was asking...

Ain't that the truth!!:D

i swear if i am planning to go back M.B dealership again, i would only pick up a G500. that's the only mercedes i will ever want to buy and trust. other than that or a CLS, the rest of the M.B are pretty much a total POS to me. too many problems.

Well, I had a recall once for the fuel tank. Other than that, I've had no problems in my 2005 LR3 HSE (V-8 300hp):

Has a lot more room than my 4runner. It's slower off the line - but 70mph on, the LR3 pulls ahead quickly (haven't found the rev limiter speed yet at around 121mph).
