LTDSC Build Thread

FINALLY got time to hit the shop and lower my seat. What a difference! I feel like im so much lower. I see out of the middle of the windshield, not the roof, i no longer hit my head/hair, can close the sunroof and NOT hit it. Im so happy i was able to do this and i took plenty of pics for everyone.

Seat removed

Friend grinding the edges of the brackets

You can see our cuts on the lower bend here

Hit it with a hammer to flatten it out, can also see our second cuts on the outer most bend on the closer bracket. Farther bracket is flattened as well.

Test fit to make sure thats enough

left is original, right is the one we cut and bent (huge difference)

Little welding to sturdy the brackets and make it right, also welded the top cuts after picture.

Bore out the mount holes a little and tape up the side panel to trim. Used washers on the seat bolts to cover the bigger bore.

I taped and then cut the side panel with the dremel and a disk.

Installed, you can see where i cut a little too much off. I also sanded down the burs/edges from the dremel cut. The picture makes the edge looks a lot more noticeable.

I ordered ToyTec Superflex springs and they show up tomorrow. I plan to install them tomorrow as well. My question is i have the DayStar rears on my OEM springs now, should i transfer one of the spacers over to the driver side toytec spring as i have read the driver side seems to sag once it settles. I really dont want to do the install twice per say so would this be beneficial or should i wait until it starts to sag?

Yes and you should send me the other spacer. :biggrin2:

Installed the Toytec springs today, wow what a ***** these were. I guess i wasnt unhooking all i needed to to lower the axle more but it was a pain.

Outcome is worth it though

couldnt get the axle low enough. Had to have my brother come and stand on the axle for it to open up enough to slip the spring in.

 did you have the trac bar and sway and shocks disconnected? i remember i jacked up one side to leverage the other down

trac bar, sway bar and shocks all disconnected. A spring compressor would have been easy but i didnt want to go get one in the middle of install. I got it though, was very close to going to get one though.

Imagine these same circumstances but with the All Pro 3.5 Coils. We had one side of the axle jacked up and me standing on the other trying to force it in there with the day star spacer

dude. forget that nonsense. That would be extremely hard to do. The daystar spacer one was a huge pain.

Next time, ratchet strap :wink2:

It was haha. Took us like 20 tries because the spacer would keep popping off every time we got it close.

same here! I was close to throwing something. I'd get it angled in and everything ready and start sliding the spring over and the damn thing would pop off.

Should have put a jack under the opposite side of the axle and pushed it up, it will give you room to put it in. I have 2.5" spacers on both sides on mine and 2- 10mm trim spacers on driver side with it.

i tried, it opened a little but caused an angle on the spring.
