Buy some tubing, a hinge, a latch, and boom! DIY kit.

Really if you can weld it to your frame already you can easily weld the tubes to eachother.

Very true. But I am thinking something similar to the weld on sliders. If the swingout is available for purchase, people can weld onto frame themselves or have a shop do it. I personally can not weld and will opt to go this route. Regardless, you two have awesome builds! Thanks for sharing.

Also this past weekend I added an accessory fuse panel and upgraded my grounds and battery terminals.

Little cleaner and will be much easier to add other items I have upcoming as well.

This weekend I decided to tackle the headroom issue in the runner.

I found a non sunroof headliner and the center dome lights and overhead console. Fully removed the original headliner and the sunroof track and the glass itself.

From there I worked on a way to secure the glass without being able to somehow suction out and disappear on the highway. I came up with aluminum spacers and running bolts through it. It held great and I was able to drill the holes into the side support to make the sunroof be the proper height. Before I brought the sunroof in one final time I taped it off and painted the inside of the glass black so it wouldn't bake the back of the headliner and eventually wear it down.

Once secured I sealed top and bottom with silicone and made sure there was no chance of leaking. Once that was cured I placed the headliner and re attached the handles and visors.

Overall I gained 3-4" of much needed headroom and I never used the sunroof anyway.

After I let it fully cure overnight I tested it by washing. No leaks.

The last 2 pics are insane. I bet it feels weird inside with all the extra head room.

It would have been a good opportunity to apply some sound deadener on the inside of your roof panels, but it's probably not very loud without a roof rack!

Nice post! I've been thinking about doing this for some time. My truck has a dealer installed sunroof, which I never use and I'm nervous it's going to fail at some point.

Does the spacer fix rattle at all?

Where did you find the insert and roughly how much was it? I need to copy your fix.

It doesn't move with the spacer. The spacer is strictly there to secure the glass because I removed the tracks and the motor.

Removed my roof rack and wrapped my hood. Completely changed the looks.

How did you plug the holes for the roof rack? I've been wanting to do this.

I bought proper length Allen head bolts and made plates in the appropriate lengths to pinch and hold the trim and weatherstripping.

I siliconed the holes and the bolts as well as below the plates holding the trim on. Doesn't leak at all.

Thanks! I'm looking to change the entire look of mine. I've been reading through the journals. I'm liking yours. My list is a new suspension, sliders, remove the rack. And perhaps new wheels. My current.

Swapped out the methods today for some SCS wheels.

Ok. This pic is it. What scs wheels are they? And what height suspension and tire size are you running? This looks perfect. Sr8?

[MENTION=87687]LTDSC[/MENTION], what exactly did you end up doing for the swingout hinge? Looks like you used a bolt... What did you use for a sleeve? Or is it just a piece of very thick tube that sleeves over the bolt?
