MA/NH Meet and wheel: June 2nd

Everyone; check the first post for some updated info about the meet! The restaurant has changed because DW pizzeria was being a b*tch.

Went to Mast Road with a guy from Tacoma World.

I got stuck again but it was easy to get out when you have a trail buddy lol.
 
What do you guys think of this?

2012 NEA Spring Poker Run
NEA fund raiser the trails are all fairly tame depending on washout a stock truck may need some spotting and take some go arounds. Really good run for those getting into the sport.

What: Our poker run is a trail ride through some scenic Class VI roads with check points along the route where you will draw a playing card. The best poker hand wins half the surplus money from the days take. Score cards are $20 and any one (passengers) in the vehicle can purchase as many as they like.

We will also be grilling burger and dogs after the ride though you may want to pack some snacks or a light lunch for along the way. Any added treats to share after the ride would be greatly appreciated.

Who: Anyone who meets the vehicle requirements. Vehicles should be legally registered and insured and have a min 31" aggressive tread tire and front and rear recovery points.
 
^ I've seen this add some where else but can't remember. Who is NEA? Looks to be a club. Have you called and asked about this club run? maybe get more info on the terrain? It sounds cool to me but remember some of the class 4 roads are overgrown so expect some pin striping. If the consensus is yes then sure why not I'm in.

Got a link to this run, or where to sign up? Also I see the only requirement is 31" aggressive tires, must be more, CB?, straps, jack, shovel, fire extinguisher

As a side note...

New Hampshire's old class IV roads are still public ways although they, The State of New Hampshire, no longer maintains them (Vermont,Maine, and to a very small extent Massachusetts have similar roads). This is where New England area 4x4 clubs come in, they search archives to find the roads, maintain them (for off road use) have trail clean-ups a few times per year, and most important, getting to know the local landowners and helping them to also keep their land clean so the club can have access to these lands also.

Personally I have been debating joining a local club for some time now. So this could be an opportunity to meet some like minded people and get some insight into how these clubs work. Maybe at some point (a few years down the road) we might be able to organize a Toyota club here in the northeast.

All this is just me thinking out loud :cool:
 
The NEA is the North East Association of 4wd clubs.

Its basically a club for clubs. Im the NEA delegate for my club (GreenMountainCrawlers)

To protect and promote envrionmentally responsible Off-Highway Vehicle recreation, while maintaining a harmonious relationship between OHV enthusiast and landowners. To support and educate Local, State and National agencies in the preservation of OHV recreation."

If you want to wheel, Join a NEA club. They have access to private properties with awesome wheeling all over New England. Dents may occur.

Do you need to be a member of any club to join in on the Poker run next weekend?
 
Not sure. That would be a good question for Scott. They usually allow people to do a "test run" to see if they want to join.

Ya there is a local club here in my area called South Shore Wheelers, you know anything about this club?, been thinking about going on a test with them, they're all jeep guys tho so i'd be odd man out :wink2: but I guess that don't matter it's the peeps that do :boink:

I'm down for a poker run!

You need aggressive tires and tow straps. That's it. I have a CB in my truck.

I've gotten over my pinstriping thing. I'll deal with it!

I was invited up by some taco guys. I'll double check to make sure it's cool that we go!

Hey, let's start a north east 4Runner club. :D

I'd be game, but I don't know if I have all the necessary stuff (my CB gear is at my mother's house in CT, etc). My truck is also at the body shop right now (glass company messed up my A-Pillar) and I'm not picking it up until like 7:30 on Saturday in Belmont, even though it would be fun to take my rental Liberty, instead :driving:. If I book it, I can make it for the 9:30 registration. I'm also not sure that I'd be able to do it stock, but that really isn't a huge concern.

I think registration starts at 9:30 but you can probably book it from Belmont in ample time. You can be a little late lol.

I don't think CB equipment is necessary. I have mine but I think we should be fine if the front and rear of the pack has em
