Eeeehaaa. Bought my '03 4Runner tonight! A Dorado Gold SR5 V8. Not many options, and 10% off msrp. The appearance package is there, but no additional charge for it. I think this one is hot off the boat. 17" wheels, radio controlled steering wheel w/ leather on it (gotta have the leather wheel), package shelf, roof rack and mats (for 261.00 !). I think the darker 'Runnner's would look better, but this baby can get real dirty and still look ok. I'll pick it up in a few days.

Thanks to Thai and everyone for expounding on the virtues of this vehicle. I think it's the best suv out there for the money, and possibly money not considered!

AAAARRRRGGGGGHHH.....You bought a brand new 4Runner and you have to pick it up in a few days. That's like going to Baskin Robbins and not getting your ice cream till Sunday.

I would be on pins and needles till the magic day. Congrats on your new 4Runner and let us know when you get it.;)

It's a money thing, Peter. The Audi has not sold yet, so I'm blowing it out for 5K in the next few days. I don't want to finance all of the 4Runner! Don't forget, I've been hawking these vehicles since December; I've been soooo patient. This one hit the lot and I knew it had my name on it. 200.00 over invoice was all it took.

I hear ya, though. Hope to be drivin' it by weeks end.
 
Thanks, Thai. Yep, that gold, or what I call champagne, really seems brilliant, and leaps off the vehicle. Now to afford that digital camera...maybe the media services gal at my hospital will shoot a few pics with that kick butt Nikon she has!

Congratulations on your purchase. Sounds like you got a great deal and now the wait. It will seem like hell till you pick it up. I had to wait a short time.
I have the Limited V8. A real sweet engine that V8.
Again CONGRATULAIONS!!!!!!!!
 
LTC, thanks. Your research into the timing belt thing was fantastic. I hope your V8 is great for you for many years. On my test drive tonight, I came up on an ML430 on the interstate. I was restrained due to break in; but I knew I could hang with that Merc, someday! It's one great engine!
 
Makes perfect sense to me. I was looking for 8 months until I bought my 4Runner. I have never traded in a car or financed through a dealer. A little time and effort will save you in the long run. Being impulsive can cost you, but heck I know it is hard to wait.:rolleyes:

Be sure to take some pictures (that is when you get it).;)

Hey Swaro,

Congrats on the new Runner. I waited 5 months and was going crazy. Trust me, it is worth the wait. My neighbor has the Dorado Gold and it looks extremely sharp. Post some pics!!

Oh and Peter :twak: , HA!!! Making Swaro go crazy or what posting that picture hehe.

Yep, that's what mine looks like, Peter. Different wheels though.
The sales brochure calls it Dorado Gold Pearl. It must be the pearl action that makes it so brilliant.

By the way, I have Bridgestones on it--want to say Duelers? Are they any good for snow/ off road?
 
wow swaro, lucky u on those tires :) yeah they're good stuff...

eventually you'll want to upgrade but those anyway but way better than what I got! hehe

Mine came with the Dueller H/Ts on it - probably the same as yours.

Seemed a little tame for the eventual snow, etc, so I swapped them for the more aggressive Dueller A/T Revos. Like them a lot.
 
What are the best tires to have on the 2003 4Runner. I am in GA so we rarely get snow, but on occasion get the wonderful black ice. I would like to go off roading.....when I am brave enough and wouldn't mind getting a good set of tires. I too have the Bridgestone's.
