Just read the entire thread here in school. Got me hooked from the start! Great thread! Probably going to mount my lights on my stock roof rack as soon as I get home!

Thanks! it was a fun project, my only complaint about the lights is to take your time and run them completely through the tubing for an even cleaner look.

That's what I was thinking I may do that tonight actually! My runner is currently on jack stands waiting for the rims to go back on. They are currently being powder coated hopefully I will get her back today!

New to the forum, just want to say this is an awesome build. Thanks for the in depth walk through of the blackout headlight mod. That's one of my first mods to do as soon as I get my T4R.

Just finished a busy couple weeks.
Satoshi Grill Mod (not flush with grill) with 5th gen "4Runner" emblem.
VLED interior update with 6K lights.
POR-15 Undercarriage protection/paint.

I planned on a CBI rear bumper but they quoted me at 1.6K in shipping alone (I recently found a company for 750 USD) so until i return to the states I must hold off.

Anything you would change with the suspension if you were starting today? I'm considering either the Icon Stage 1 or Toytec Boss, but am new enough to suspensions (and while there is ton of info on this site, there is so much that assimilating it is a real challenge) that I'm not sure I understand the differences between the two. Eventually I'll be adding a shrockworks front bumper and a cbi rear, so I want to make sure that I can add the extra weight without needing to change out the suspension. I'll be running 285's, but I don't need the extreme articulation of the extended travel shocks. Any advice?

So far my suspension treated me well, I just noticed after 70K miles of hard riding lol, my passenger rear shock and driver front is leaking oil. Stage II is worth it i think but ICON is my only suspension to date. I would recommend a heavier rear spring if a CBI is in the future for you.

Thanks ... the CBI is in the future, but I'm not sure how long it will be, so I may stick with the lower spring rate for the near term and swap out to heavier springs when I get the bumpers. Probably do the same for the front as well, as I'm thinking I may not want to deal with what I assume would be a much stiffer ride until I scape up the cash for bumpers.

Check out BlairB and Thejosh's rigs they have done many upgrades and a few suspensions. I used them as a model for my rig. They can provide great insight to which spring to go with

Great build so far. I too am interested in seeing how the lights operate up there and if they bounce at all. Its really annoying when they bounce like momo said.



Do you have to send the others back? It'd be nice if you ever decide to do a BL to have those on hand.

After using and abusing these lights, still no bounce or wiggle. I do have to lay them back to get into parking garages that are 2.0M tall.

Germany Off Road Again

Another great trip in Germany. We traveled to Kassel to an off road park and had a blast. 5th gen broke a CV and a Jeep ran in to a berm. Other then that carnage the land rovers survived. I should have a nice video or two showing why 4Runners are so awesome making routes.

Updates! The 4Runner is back from Insain Fab creating the rear bumper dual swingout. This fabrication is complete with an in bumper exhaust, tire carrier, dual jerry can holder, body chop and they installed the 1" body lift for me. Then I spent an hour installing the RTT by bigfoot tents. Finally, I printed the 4Runner Mtn decal with a few modifications to the design.

Rear bumper looks good, seems to have hit all the forums 'wants' list.
I didn't think that side exhaust was possible without a 2" body lift.
