maint required light....wierd

So I have noticed the past cpl days that when I park at work, which is on a slight hill, that when I first start up the maint reqd light comes on for a few seconds or so then goes away. I thought my oil was low but its not and I just changed with 5w 30 about 700 miles ago. It however does not do this when parked flat. And it has been between 25 and 40 degrees Fahrenheit when I started it up. Does anyone have any ideas?

My understanding of the maint. light is just a reminder for an oil change. Just reset it and see if it still happens.

There's a 'how-to' reset it 2x, once in the oil change thread and then in a thread titled resetting maint req'd light.

My understanding is that when it just blinks at start up, its just a reminder that an oil change is due soon. Once an oil change is needed, it will stay lit constant. Please feel free to correct me if im wrong.

I find it to be a nuisance. I keep track of my oil changes very strictly and they do not coincide with the idiot light. And I always have to look in the OM for the reset procedure since I can't remember it. Getting old(er) sux.

:iagree: IIRC it starts blinking at 4500mi and goes steady at 5000miles.

Dunno about your 08, but in my 03, it is really buried in the owner's manual. It's not in the index and rather hard to find.
