Maintenance Required Interval Late

So...I just did my 90k maintenance, but didn’t get a reminder on the dash for it. It wasn’t until a few hundred miles later that the dash displayed “Maintenance Required”. Does anyone know why it’s not reminding me BEFORE the maintenance interval? And how to fix it?

Don’t sweat it... if your consistent with your fluid changes and lubricate your suspension once a year and your fine even if its off a few hundred miles or so. Regular oil changes, check your air/cabin filter (change as necessary), diff fluids annually (more frequently if you submerge your diffs) if you do a lot of off roading or every 20-30k if road only and you’ll see 250k+ all day long.

The diff fluids need changing that often? I never plan on submerging the diffs in water.

You don't get a reminder for maintenance intervals. All that light is for is to remind you to change your oil every 5,000 miles. It is mileage based off when it was last reset. It has nothing to do with your factory intervals. Basically a glorified trip meter preset to 5k.

No, not annual unless you do a lot of off-roading or towing. I think it’s a 50k interval in the manual... My bad.

In my case, that "maint req'd" light is all over the place. Who knows when it's going to come on.
I'm from the generation that grew up w/o air bags, seat belts, and a computerized voice telling me it's now time to make a right hand turn.
We simply eye-balled the odometer and knew that every xxxx miles it was time to do something.

Yep. I just reset mine as soon as it comes on every time. It's useless.

Then again, I check my own tire pressures, fluids, belt, battery cables, etc. every 1-2 weeks also. Takes 5 minutes including topping off the washer fluid. I really don't need automated lights to tell me when to do things. It's sad that most of the world does.

I change my oil every 5K miles, so it is helpful for me. It will flash on ignition 500 miles before, and then stay on at 5000 miles until you reset it.
