What I meant was I’m looking for a more deeper horn along the line of truck horn but one that is electric.

Just FYI - the horn relay on these trucks can be finicky and have been known to blow when people change the horn. When that relay goes, it tends to cause other electrical gremlins. There are a few threads on this forum of people tracking down some other electrical problem to an aftermarket horn.

Thanks Bladrik! This is why I asked if anyone had any personal experience with after market horn. Not only about finding a good horn but if they had any installations problems. I’ll look into this further.

I've had this one for a couple of years now. Bought it because I'd been run off the road twice in one week and even laying on the puny factory horn, the other person seemed oblivious. I've got it hooked up to function with the horn button (steering wheel) and is even loud enough to get the attention of semis.
If you're light enough with your presses you can still give the soft(er) courtesy honk too.

I replaced my stock horn with a 4 note from an old Cadillac, sounds little like a train and is nice and loud!

I've got it hooked up to function with the horn button (steering wheel) and is even loud enough to get the attention of semis.

If you are feeling inadequate in the horn department buy yourself some Nathen air chimes, nothing says get the F out of the way like they do.

Yes those are definitely loud but I’m not looking to blast someone off the road with a train horn. Just want something more truck like.

All I had to do was cut the factory horn connector off, the one RIGHT at the horn, and put a female spade connector on to hook it up to the new relay. I've got it mounted sort of in the original location, in front of the condenser core.

I've also made the mistake of leaving the key in my pocket and accidentally setting off the 4R's alarm...scared the crap out of the neighborhood kids that were outside playing across the street, they all went back inside with "it wasn't me!" looks on their faces

Bunch of people are running "PIAA Superior or Super Bass Horns" Search the forum for the many threads about this. I like my Supers - much more like a US pickup truck but not overkill loud. The factory wiring connectors fit but the ground circuit is separated on the horn. I think the PIAA box came with dedicated ground wires but I may have ordered the Toyota pigtail kit "frequently purchased with" suggestion here:

I went with the Hella Supertones about a week after I bought the truck. Someone was about to merge into me, I jammed on my horn and it sounded like someone stepped on a duck. New horns are much better, and for the $40 and 20 minutes it took to wire them up one of my easier and smarter investments.

I'm trying to figure out exactly what's "Premium" about these... I guess you could say they look nicer... 500/400hz dual notes... but are they an improvement or just a waste of money?

That video does a before and after, but listening online does not make a convincing argument for a ~ $80.00 expenditure.

They cost more, therefore they get the "premium" moniker.

Hey dude, I've been running this as a replacement for the stock horn since I bought it. It's intended for a boat, but that won't stop us. It'll utilize just one of the dual-tone stock connectors and it's simple to make a bracket to drop it in behind the grille.

One day I'll wire it to its own separate button and have a 'calmer' horn for stock, but today is not that day.

Quality is decent as well; I had moved this same horn/compressor/harness from a Jeep I used to own and had it on there for three years.

Whelen Airhorn

These police horns are pretty legit and considering installing one myself.

I have a cheap 15w speaker installed behind the grille next to the air horn which is connected to the CB out. Decently loud but nothing like the Whelen. Definitely looking to install one of those sometime.

Went from Road Runner Beep Beep to American 4 door sedan sound. Not overly loud, but definitely way much better, and people actually hear it.
