My v6 manual 4Runner is hard to shift into second until the rpm drops. After changing the shift seat with the marking crawler set and changing fluid to redline it is shifts into second fine when the truck is cold. Once the truck warms up I'm back to having to wait for Rpm to drop before I can shift into second. It sometimes drops 3rd gear when slowing down but this isn't much of an issue.

I read somewhere that you can put 1/4 quart of oil in extra and it will help. It really helped out mine, although it still is rough occasionally. I think my synchros on 2nd and 3rd are just pretty worn out.
How did you add more fluid? Did you jack up the right side?
That or fill through your shifter hole.

This may be blasphemy on here, but I know that mixing in a quart of GM Synchromesh compatible fluid has worked well for many people with other vehicles. You'll need to drain enough to add it though...
